She is an amazing singer & the act of putting this video here is nice. But this isn,t the first time in long time that she has faced camera. in fact I have done a film on her that one a few awards as well. has few of her ghazals as well. you would get more info about her through the film that too in her own voice....

A great classical singer,great poet and great ghazal,but i am afraid that has been the fate of most classical singers,writers. They live a life with little money, Ghalib was very poor, Sadat hassan manto was same and now Zarina Begum, but misery is once they are gone than people know there importance.

Perfect - Bahadur Shah Zafar's best ghazal. Perhaps you could write a bit more about Zarina Begum - it's hard to find any information about her. If she faced the cameras after 37 years that means she was filmed 37 years ago - for TV? Or film?

She has been performing on and off for weddings and classical shows and radio spots...but she is out of work and a family of 4 that survives on her...Sad, i couldn't help her..but one day, i will make an album of her favourite tunes and let the world indulge in the beauty of a lost era....meanwhile, enjoy her lo-fi footage from lucknow where i visited and filmed her...peace
