Hi there. My son is only 3 months old and was admitted to hospital when it first started last week. Eyes would roll to the right and blue around his mouth and the seizures would only last 10 to 15 seconds but happen more than 3 times over five minute intervals.
First diagnosis was meningitis but he continued to have seizures. He was flown to the royal children's hospital in Melbourne AU and has had CT scans, which came up clear. Heart ultra sound came up clear. EEG which was cleared. Spinal ta
spinal tap which came up clear. His MRI had 3 bright spots which was brushed off as ok and nothing to worry about. He had another seizure this afternoon after he didnt take all his phenobarbitone (anti seizure meds) They fed him another lot this afternoon through his drip and then he was ok again. Still dont know what is wrong with him though. I noticed you mentioned he had temporal lobe epilepsy. Could you please email me regarding this christopherglane.mobile@gmail.com
he is breath holding :/ yea its holding breath spells :/ all the symptoms that you describe is breath holding and p.s tahts cute how your other little boy says "get out?" when you said yes hes having a seizure thats cute
that looks like a petite Mal and absent minded seizure and that look serious the way his lips turned blue strong indicator for grand Mal seizure when he is older get him to sick kids or a good children's hospital in your area i know sick kids in Toronto if you tell them something is wrong they will checked your child thoroughly.
He had his heart tested at the very beginning and they told me it was not reflex anoxic, something I first assumed because of his lips, and napping. Thank you for your post!
The thing is though, most kids with RAS have something that provokes their seizures (such as bumping their head, etc.). Do you think something could be provoking his seizures? I notice many of them happen in the car.
Hi, have you looked into Reflex Anoxic Seizures? Children with RAS will go limp and lose awareness and then stiffen up and jerk as a result of a drop in oxygen supplying the brain (might explain the blueness). It usually affects otherwise normal children. These seizures however are not epileptic and instead are a form of syncope. I guess if the meds are working I'm probably wrong, but if you fail to get a proper diagnoses after the tests you should give it a shot.

guess youve passed trought all tests in the world. just in case ... a brain magnetic resonance maybe useful in order to discard possible organic issues. hope he get well soon. ive passed trought a lot of sht myself, but when is about kids just breaks my heart. all the best

He has them in the house now as well. He was on Prevcacid and I didn't notice a decrease in theses events, but thank you for your thoughts. They do sometimes happen right away but usually its after about 4-5 minutes and sometimes it's on the way home, and they come in clusters, if that makes any sense. He is now at #95 and we see a new Dr. in two weeks.
Also, i saw a post that you may consider:does your son have reflux???? the reason I am asking is that my son Mason has severe reflux...in addition to seizure disorder and many other medical issues......if we would put him in his car seat after a feed he would have crazy seizures........now that he has a g-tube and nissen he is fine in the car seat.....this went on for months until I finally put the two together and questioned it with his drs

I see that you posted this back in August, so I am assuming that you have gotten him help by now. I have a seizure disorder. This definitely looks like a seizure and has classic signs. I have seen other posts by you on here as well and all look like seizures to me. Of course final diagnosis has to be made by a neurologist. God Bless you and your child and good luck....
I know how scary this is. My daughter had seizures in October, and she would do the turning blue and go unresponsive. The only difference is instead of stiffening or jerking she would go limp and turn blue. LIfeless almost. Very scary and I hope both your Connor & my Grace make full recoveries from these VERY scary seizures!!! Best wishes!
my sons whole body shook last night in his sleep for about 15 seconds.. i picked him up and just repeatedly called hisname out until he opened his eyes, then he went back to sleep. it really scared me so i am looking to see if i see anything similar here.. this video made me cry so hard! :( it just brakes my heart! my son is 14 months old so it just reminds me of him way too much. i hope your son gets better as soon as possible
I stumbled across this today. I hope you have found a pediatric neurologist for your son. That was a most definitely a seizure. : ( I speak from experience. My 4 year old son has them. With medication, they are under control. I am sure you know, but I am going to say it anyways, if they last longer than 5 minutes get him to an ER. It's funny the day you uploaded this my son had his last "bigger one", lasting 20 minutes after diastat.
Has he had oen of the episodes while hooked up to the EEG? You can have a normal EEG between seizures. My heart is with you, it is very frightening to be going through something like that. If you want to talk you can email me and I would be happy to talk with you.

I have Epilepsy and have multiple types of seizures. I am not sure how I would classify your son's seizures as I am not an expert but I would definitely not give up in your search of finding a proper diagnosis.

If it is a seizure your not supposed to touch him that can cause injury but ask your doctor if its a seizure b4 saying it is.

I forgot to mention that a child with RAS may sleep for two or three hours afterward. I noticed you said somewhere that he sleeps after it happens.
