¨pro wrestling¨is about acting, and i think thats why MMA fans diss him. cause MMA is real, real punches, real kicks, real submissions. ¨pro wrestling¨ acting, actors, show, drama, fake punches, fake kicks, just fake. it doesnt really matter if the guys from ¨pro wrestling¨ can be the basis for showbussiness but its still fake. its not about hating it its about knowing whats real, and if the guy really fights now, well good for him thumbs up :)
Preach it crazymike. Some people are just always gonna hate on wrestling, way she goes. Like Bobby Heenan said "We never said it was real. You people said it was fake."
wrestling is fake?? OH GOD WHY?! How did I ever buy into this web of lies!!!??!!? i feel so violated.. is this real?? am I real?? is this the matrix? fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu -spontaneously combusts-
Good stuff man, alot of people think mma fighters are superior thats why they knock the wrestlers like they would have no chance,i could think of a few wrestlers like kurt angle in his prime would run through 99% of the competition.its just some people dont know whats really up
i dont blame you for makin this video and i agree with you a 100% keep up the good work........and its about damn time somebody said somethin and agrees with me
Thank you! Finally someone says it like it is. We all know pro-wrestling is scripted and non-competitive, but that doesn't make it less entertaining, or less dangerous for that matter.
Falling from a steel cage or getting thrown through a table without getting seriously hurt is just as hard as getting beaten up in a MMA match. You need years of training. What I'm trying to say is: MMA Fighters train to hurt, Wrestlingstars train to avoid hurt and still make it look spectacular. They fall, get hit by objects, and they throw others through tables, from turnbuckles etc. if they don't train this, they would die instantly. Even bouncing off the ropes is dangerous.
By no means am I trying to sound racist,I apologize if I have offended anyone. But it just makes me laugh.Boxing use to be the sport of kings, and now everyone bashes wrestling completely like those men are able to really be able to compete, and praise MMA.They even spit on Boxing and say its boring.People appreciate all of the sports.Look beyond WWE and its silly soap opera shit, and check out Japan.Boxing and MMA and pro wrestling are ALL RELATED.
One last thing I wanted to say is that, its amazing how Americans use to bash the martial arts.Boxing was always seen as the superior self defense, and fighting style. Now all of a sudden, you see tons of white boys(not being racist just observant) practing Judo,Ju-Jitsu and tons of other stuff.Alot of men thought martial arts was pussy, and only little kids were signed up for that. Now every gym you see is tons of "MMA fighters" training. Its a fucking trend.
The issue at hand is that immature MMA fans associate pro wrestling with only WWE b/c of Brock Lesnar.Pro wrestling goes beyond WWE and TNA.Alot MMA fans have the tendency to call things "gay".They have a very high "masculenity" level, but it comes off often as someone who is secretly in the closet. They always seem confrontational and pissed off,and it looks stupid.Yes pro wrestling has alot of idiot fans, but MMA fans are the worst. They hicks and the worst of the city slickers
Mixed Martial Arts fighters actually require brain power when they compete. That is if you can even call "Pro Wrestling" competition. Also, the reason people trash on Brock Lesnar is because when he entered the world of MMA he should have left all his wrestling attitude there. MMA requires discipline. None of these "Pro Wrestlers" have brought the discipline that most of the original MMA fighters already have.
"wrestling attitude there"-MMA and Pro Wrestling have the same origins. I must point out the fact that, that was a very naive comment. MMA is extremely wrestling like and even uses the same business model from time to time.
@FightMMA5487 Dude really? Brain power? What do you think pro wrestling requires? They have discipline beyond discipline to dedicate to such a rigorous career. We can have this argument for years and years, but the truth is (even though scripted) pro wrestling is more demanding then MMA.MMA wasnt even respected as a sport(and still isnt by many) 15 years ago.Pro wrestling WAS an actual sport in the days of Lou Thesz and Verne Gagne.MMA is a very serious sport, but dont let WWE speak for wrestling
@FightMMA5487 and alot of your MMA fighters got into pro wrestling and were surprised at how physical the sport is.Especially in the puroresu scene.Brock Lesnar only picked MMA b/c he couldnt do his childhood dream, play in the NFL.Your so called golden boy,and possibly one of best pro wrestlers to never stay, settled into MMA as a second choice. That attitude he displayed isnt "pro wrestling",its his douchebag real life personality.
"Mixed Martial Arts fighters actually require brain power when they compete."
So you wanna say, that a wrestler, who has to take care of his own and his opponents wellbeing at the same time (while making the fight still look as real as possible) needs no brain power to achieve those three conflicting goals? If that would be true, every fuckin' backyarder could consider himself a pro wrestler. But it takes way more than that. Especially if someone wants to be a good wrestler.
What pro wrestling critics don't want to understand is that yes the storylines are scripted, but the outcome of the match is pre determined and the wrestling is real, you still have to go out and put out a good match with pure athleticism and be innovative, yes the shows are scripted but the wrestling is still a sport
@joaolaitano you are fucking retarded. Listen to the fucking video, idiot. Are some people are mad that Sakuraba lists his fighting style as pro wrestling?
im a die hard wrestling fan...die hard...had the HBK 4ever sign at hbk's farewell....n my friends love mma...n they asked me...why do u watch wwe...when 90% of the people know its fake....i tried to compare it to movies and broadway...but more violent....but they said Well "Bottom line Its guys fake wrestling"....i wanted to ask...why do u watch wwe?...so i can think of a good answer...thank!
they aren't ignorant just full of ego. they have attached themselves to something new and real and they think it makes them special. same as when kids first hear metal and they start trashing everything else. i think most people don't know pro-wrestling used to be real and became scripted because of the massive injuries from the matches being too long and brutal. pro-wrestling used to be similar to mma. people need to learn. i agree with this vid 100% man. you got it down. you know your stuff.
"we KINDA knew it was scripted.." "we already knew PROBABLY from the first day...." Sounds to me like you DO need people telling you it's fake, also Lesnar's a great athlete but also an asshole who won't fight to defend his belt, or at the very least give it up if he doesn't want to fight.
I agree with CrazyMike1706 - Pro Wrestling although is fake is entertaining to some people. Although these pro-wrestlers are following a script they do get seriously hurt out there and a lot of them are truly gifted. I wouldn't do half the things a wrestler does in the ring fake or not.
In the beginning I wasn't a big fan of Brock due to his un-sportsmanship attitude. Did I turn off the TV when he was fighting? Nope - He's entertaining, the man has skills and he adds a bit of spice.
@5starwrestlingradio - Bros you're cracked out. Admittedly the collisions between wrestlers are all real. Jumping off the top rope is real. They also have real injuries and accidents. But its still fake.
@iApna you just came off as an oxymoron. How the fuck is the collision real, the jumping off the top rope real as well as the injury and accident all being real.Yet its fake?? And Im cracked out? Fake means NONE EXISTENT.Meaning no pain,no injury and no fucking danger ever. Its scripted dude. Not fake.Dont be an idiot
@5starwrestlingradio - WWE wrestlers are not trying to break each others bones. Accidents happen all the time but shit happens. They have no interest in breaking their "friends" ribs, knees, legs, splitting their skulls, etc.. deliberately. The wrestler are cooperating with each other to put on a show. Whereas in MMA there is an interest in breaking their opponent to end the fight and get paid. Nobody is cooperating, it isn't scripted. Wrestlers are athletes no doubt.
@iApna i dont think MMA fighters are trying to split their opponents skulls or break bones.I think they are trying to beat their opponent yes.Submit, choke them out whatever. But I dont think they are trying to break a mans bones.Knocking him out is one thing, but thats different. However,in pro wrestling, their have been instances when they are trying to bust their opponent open(legitimately). They are trying to bruise him or black his eye.Thats gone on record in alot promotions
@5starwrestlingradio - Well I compete in Muay-Thai just starting off in MMA. When I executing a kick the intent is to go through them. Whether thats to the ribs, legs or head. This is the same with elbows and punches. I do not want to kill my opponent but if hes in my way when I kick I'm not holding back.
@5starwrestlingradio - Sure wrestlers are striking each other. But they are not hitting them with maximum force, which is obvious. Maybe the word "fake" isn't the right word but I don't believe "real" is either then.
I am not trying to disrespect the wrestlers as I do see them as athletes and they do get hurt.
@iApna that depends on what promotion you are looking at.Look at ROH from the early 2000s and they were throwing some stiff elbows, open palms and fists. No joking, they had mouses under their eyes and split lips. However WWE should never speak for the sport of wrestling.its a joke. Now maybe WWF from the late 90s was a bit more intense. But not this shit now
if you are talking about all the trash talking and such, then yea I agree, at least in the US. In japan, MMA fighters generally have a lot more respect for each other and their sport. Actually, I would say Japanese MMA fighters are some of the best sportsmen in the world, and the audience as well.
The problem boils down to there not being a legitimate professional wrestling association. Most of the best MMA fighters have a wrestling base - it's the best base, and now you probably won't see these transitions from pro wrestling to mma, as mma wasn't as legit or recognized 5 10 years ago. Brocks problem is how he brought some of the pro wrestling aspects with him, you don't rip on sponsors and the like.
@nels2379 I have to disagree with you on the "you don't rip on sponsors" part. Brock Lesnar DID bring some of the aspects with him, including some of the high-sales. Brock playing the "heel" brought ratings. He is a natural heel and people wanted to see him get beat. Watch Josh Koscheck in his pre-fight interviews. He was UBER-HEEL all the way up to the GSP fight. After he lost he pretty much said "thanks for letting me get this fight hyped etc. etc." Bringing that showmanship will benefit MMA.
It's the first time I see one of our videos, and man... YOU'RE FREAKING RIGHT!
As an aspiring pro wrestler, I know how hard it is, especially because I added Shoot-Fighting elements in my move-set. I did some martial arts when I was younger and I never got hurt.
To the contrary I've been injured so many times in Pro-Wres' that I stopped counting.
Your right about people hating on Brock. But not everyone hates on him for that particular reason. I personally, just don't like him because of how he behaves in MMA, loud and trash talks.
and don't the Promotions. Pancrase, Shooto, Fighting Network RINGS, and UWF/UWFI. and guys like Nabuhiko Takada, Masakatsu Funaki, Ken Shamrock, Vernon "Tiger" White, Minoru Suzuki, Bas Rutten, and Satoru Sayama but these MMA Fans that don't that will say some stupid shit like "it's not MMA because their wearing boots and Not Barefoot. I watch Both MMA and Pro Wrestling. I respect both the MMA Fighters and Pro Wrestlers because they bust theitr Asses for our entertainment.
I could not have said this better myself. I do like both, but I refuse to compare them at all. What a lot of the ignorant MMA fans don't know is that wrestlers respect MMA, hell, a lot of them are fans of the sport. Same goes for the other way around. There are MMA fighters who respect pro wrestling, some are fans of it, too. I get sick of hearing people bring up MMA in a wrestling discussion.
I disagree with the last guy. Lesnar has also been an ass. I've never liked him, I'm a pro wrestling fan(more Puroresu and Lucha Libre).
Lesnar was getting crap before any of his antics in MMA. I've heard many MMA fans discount him due to his past. Even Frank Mir made that mistake, and I'm a huge Frank Mir fan.
u talked a lot of shit about mma, ppl that don't like brock cuz he just jumped right in to mma using his size(btw cutting down to 265 isn't a skill like learning bjj or something like that) and has shown the sport/fans/other fighters/sponsors any respect and that's what most mma fans that i know have a problem with
most mma fighters have taken roids as well. most of them cheat to make weight by using an iv and everything. announcer might say he weighed in at 215 but hes standing there at 265+
most pro wrestlers are in far better shape then mma fighters. mma fighters train weeks for 1 fight that can end any minute. wrestlers are on the road 300 days a year performing almost every night..sometimes 2 or 3 times a night. but bc its "fake" it gets written off. most of the guys in mma count handle it
they test in mma for roids, so no most don't. and how would u know if they did? do u hang out with "most" mma fighter's? "pro wrestlers are in better shape"???? r u high? u really think thats true huh, there r so many fat slobs in wrestling. not saying wrestlers don't work thru pain or work a lot thru the yr but mma is the hardest sport out there
I think it's weird how people don't like brock because he was a pro wrestler, it's random, it was just his before job, that's like hating Clay Guidea for being a carpender lol. Also I find dumb how people hated Brock Lesnar because he was over rated and lost his first fight. but people love Kimbo Slice and he lost in the ultimate fighter show, is he over rated? yea the toughest guy at the BBQ is over rated, seeing that he don't even know how to sprawl.
"HEY GUYS.i made a new account and i decided to show people wat mma is all about. i am a boxer and a juijitsu white belt, im going to give people a chance to see me grow as a mixed martial artist. ill be bloging and posting my training sessions and tournements, come subscribe and watch me grow as a person, watch me grow as a mixed martial artist with Renzo Gracie and Gleasons boxing gym."
Wrestling is not only entertainment but it is also sport. and these guys are athletes. yeah they have soap opera aspect to it but not all wrestling promotions emphasize on entertainment like the WWE. ROH emphasizes on Pure Wrestling. it's not call PRO wrestling for nothing people. these athletes(yeah I said athletes)bust their asses every night for our entertainment and our pleasure and it makes sick that these so called wrestling fans disrespect them and saying they are not athletes.
yeah I really don't understand why they automatically assume a fighter will suck just because they used to be pro wrestlers. "oh it's fake" just because they know who's going to win doesn't mean they don't get hurt. some mma fans are just rude and ignorant.
wow man, I agree with everything you say! I enjoy doing backyard wrestling, and even though we are good wrestlers, we still get the comments of with is gay, or this is fake
I agree brock does get pushed aside by the noobish ufc fans that dont know what there talking about. As an mma fighter I had respect for brock beacause of his wrestling back ground, hell even in wwe u gotta be able to take some pain cuz things go wrong, but i just dont like his attitude.
The other issue is calling pro wrestling a sport. Whilst the wrestlers are athletes, pro wrestling is by no means a sport. It's entertainment purely and it's good at what it does. Thanks for the vid upload and keep sharing your opinions and observations.
Unfortunately, Brock's only quality win is in Frank Mir atm, but he gets a huge test in Shane Carwin coming up. I wish him good luck even if I am a Carwin fan. I like to see people succeed professionally. It's good for the sport. Also, for Crazymike, 2 things I would disagree with you on is Brock getting a huge win over Randy. Randy is 46 and weighed about 80 pounds less. His career is in his twilight, but I don't think this takes away from Brock's credibility. More fights will prove he belongs.
I grew out of pro wrestling and am a huge MMA fan, but anyone who discredits these athletes because the were pro wrestlers is ignorant. "Rich Franklin is terrible because he taught math." How does that impact his skills as a fighter? Just because someone came from an industry geared towards entertainment instead of real combat doesn't mean they can't be real athletes and make a great transition.
I doubt this subject isn't that intense to get all hyped up and really get in too deep on the topic about, but hey, everyone is different. I just think your way of getting to the point just took a little to long and you seemed too anticipated to get alot of things out of the way. This video is an "EPIC FAILURE".
I don't understand why MMA fans trash fighters that used to be wrestlers, pro wrestling fans, and pro wrestling in general. They always say "oh its so stupid and fake MMA is the real shit unlike gay pro wrestling". But with pro wrestling they take hard bumps and it takes a lot out of you which is why it is correctly defined as SCRIPTED and not FAKE. Great video.
"Haha, I'm so smart..." Love that line man... Amen to everything you fuckin said man... As a future pro wrestler AND I am a martial artist, I love every bit of this video...
Lets think for a second... Get actually punched and lose those brain cells for cash... Or get beat up and sore for pay... I will take the later of the two haha...
Once again, amazing video man... Great Job pointing out the MMA-Fake-Hate shit...
No they don't.. where do you read that? There are far more ignorant MMA fans on this site alone dissing pro wrestling than there are wrestling fans who trash MMA.
Alot of the people that bash Lesnar are the MMA Purists who dont want Wrestling type surroundings such as Ring Entrances. But on the other side you have these ignorant Wrestling Fans who try to justify John Cena vs Frank Mir or some bull shit like that. I like both. But Why compare the 2 in which one is real and one is scripted.
yea i agree Its not easy to get into WWE and yea its not real but its Entertainment and half the stuff they do like ladder matches really do hurt you are obv going to get hur in these kind of matches. They put there bodys on the line to Entertain us. MMA Fighters do it to win ( im not disrespecting them by saying there not entertaining ) When you watch WWE you get all different stuff in MMA its allways fighting in a Cage. ( once again no disrespect to MMA Fighters)
The thing about a MMA match is after a fight, you might come out of a match without a scratch on you, and even if you dont you still have weeks to heal up and prepare for your next fight. In pro wrestling, you're pretty much guaranteed to come out of a match sore and hurting after being slammed on the mat 30-40 times whether you know how to take a bump or not, and chances are you gotta do it all again the next day. Wrestling is just as tough, if not moreso than MMA, bottom line.
No lesnar got a tital shot in his 4 match and he got a tittal shot becouse all he needs to do was learn more in mma like the submissions and how not to just run in and fight plus his size was a big help
People hate on Lesnar because he lost his first match and then was given a title shot in his second. People don't feel like he "paid his dues" in MMA before becoming the champion. It sucks that Lesnar gets a title shot in his 2nd fight, yet someone like Kenny Florian has been working tirelessly for years towards earning his shot at a belt.
first time ive seen the blog and did enjoy it, im much more a fan of the wrestling but i will watch the mma when its on! and y do i watch it sometimes cause i want to see brock or bobby after there wrestling day (although bobby tna, different story) so theres a new fan base watchin, so the "hardcore" mma fans might be annoyed but i can asure them people like Dana White will be lovin them bringin in some new viewers!
this video is shows how badass you are, you show why EVERY wrestling/MMA fan should subscribe to you. bcuz you speak the truth, u dont sugar coat shit, you get straight to the point and thats what make you great.
Some of the guys fake KOs too because they know they're physically unable to defeat the opponent, or if they're injured or not feeling well. I wouldn't be surprised if they planned out the matches and took the KO just to get part of the opponent's paycheck.
Great video. I'm not sure those side of fans are ever gonna give Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley any credit. I mean they need to give credit where it is due. Even Dan "The Beast" Severn went from being an All American to one of the top Mixed Martial Artist to being a Pro Wrestler. He still fights MMA matches this day. Seriously, it's basically the same steps Brock took and he gets no respect at all.
Pro wrestling is not a sport its entertainment that takes alot of physical skill. I agree that it takes a special kind of person to be in pro wrestling but that has alot to do with apperance and CHARIMSA more than anything. But it works both ways since alot of the stars in pro wreslting woudlnt be able to be mma fighters as well since not all of them have the high caliber college wrestling experience/athletic ability and age to do that.
Couture was not on roids it was his opponent that beat him Josh Barnett that was the juice so Josh was stripped of his title and was kicked out of the UFC
I'm sick of hearing that uninformed opinion. Mir has pore stand up. I could knock him out if it weren't for his incredible ju-jitsu skills.
Brock's a bad match up for him. Mir's not a well rounded fighter there are far more consistent fighters then Mir in just about every other weight division.
I seriously fail to see how Mir's inadequacy makes Brock a bitch. Please LOGICALLY explain this to me and the entire rest of the online community
I look at those MMA fans the same way I look at those elitist ROH fans. They have no lives but to bash others. I'm not coming down on all ROH fans, just the elitist ones. I'm an ROH fan, but I also like WWE and I also like most of the guys in TNA (despite it's booking choices some times). Those MMA "fans" are nothing more than elitists who like to bitch and complain just for the sake of bitching and moaning.
Thanks for making this video CrazyMike. I am a fan of both pro wrestling and MMA and there are different reasons I like each of them. I don't watch pro wrestling to see a guy legitimately get in a fight with someone but pro wrestling is more consistently entertaining and sadly, pro wrestling is sometimes more believable, but MMA still is fun to watch people really fight. Whatever people watch, they need to learn to at least respect the other type so that they don't make themselves sound stupid
Yeah Gorgeous George was said to influence many things in pop culture or something like that Even James Brown and Muhammad Ali there's many others too got their styles from him.
wow your realy good looking , i dont realy like dudes who are facial hair but you look better with facial hair, im not realy diggin the clean shaven look but your still hot lols, but yeah you look even better with facial hair, it makes you look not so young to, you llok like your 16 in this video lol
CrazyMike I'm not sure that pro wrestling was exactly "real" 100 years ago, there was much more of a shoot style and at times it did get "real". However, pro wrestling really originated at carnivals in the mid-late 1860s, you'd have a guy in the ring challenging the locals to beat his guy, they'd have a plant, he'd come in, they'd take bets, course the locals bet on the "hometown boy" and he'd lose. So from the beginning it was scripted, but there were more shoot style elements.
Not only does Dana obviously stretch out MMA feuds, but he also builds characters, what the fuck do you think the ultimate fighter series does? The fights are real competition (not real fights because I've never once been stood up due to punching a guy in the back of the head in a fight) but it's so obvious that it's not always the best fighters climbing the ranks, Dana is smart, he books and creates ways to have characters and feuds.
lol I honestly think that MMA fans get worked more than pro wrestling fans. To me though, you shouldn't even compare the two. Compare MMA to boxing, compare Wrestling to theater, like the Japanese acrobats or something, something that requires precise skill and athleticism in front of a live audience.
thanks for removing them again, it shows you will do what I say, first you remove recent activity, then favorites?I thought you were a tough guy ,guess not.
One more thing I wish he would have added was that UFC is just as much a work as the WWE only in a different way. If you honestly think that there wasn't something behind the "controversial decision" of Shamrock vs Ortiz II you're fucking stupid. They CLEARLY didn't hate each other that much and the controversial finish was to add another fight. The fights themselves were real, but Dana saw an opportunity and knew Shamrock didn't belong against Tito and he put an incentive for a 3rd fight.
Also, Pro wrestling HURTS. I am recovering from a torn brain sack due to training at a pro wrestling academy. I didn't even do anything wrong, I was just taking bumps. It's not a mattress, bumps hurt, kicks hurt, clotheslines hurt, chops hurt, hell, running the ropes hurts. In MMA, you get bruised and cut, but then you have 6-8 weeks to heal, in pro wrestling it's a weekly or even daily thing.
When you mentioned how MMA and boxing copy storylines from pro-wrestling, it instantly reminded me of the hype for Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson all those years ago. Where Tyson went ballistic, attacking Lewis to where everyone from both parties had to separate the men.
All it did was hype the match even more......and on my end of the world, got some people to hate Mike Tyson even more. So in reality, that worked for the match.
Pure class. You said it well Mike, i admire you. Nearly on every single wrestling related video you see some idiot making stupid comments like "this is fake, grow up and watch some UFC", it is a load of bullshit and the wrong way of promoting your fav product.
The thing with Shamrock being a HoF'er is that the UFC was differant during the early to mid 90's than the way it is these days. As for Brock, while I may not be a fan myself but he deffanetely can wrestle & or fight, case in point his NJPW stuff after he left the wwFe.
Well I semi agree there because he didn't deserve the IWGP Title, not because he's a gajin, just that he wasn't there long enough to actualy earn it. In terms of what he did in the ring, not his actual run there, his in-ring work was better than his wwFe work. Then again I guess that's not saying much since Japan's always bin about actual wrestling since the 1960's, wear as North America (with the exceptions of AWA, ECW, NWA, & WCCW) has cared about entertainment.
his WWE work is way much better than his New Japan work...Brock was pure lazy and unmotivated when he was in New Japan and wont put Tanahashi over like dirtywhiteboi said...
I agree with you mike, yeah ill admit i use to bag Brock Lesnar about UFC. But when i watched him actually fight he is really good, so what that he was a pro wrestler, there is a complete difference besides WWE and UFC, WWE controls how there superstars train and fight, with UFC they go in and do whatever they want.
Let's face it. 90% of the Lesnar/Lashley fans are morons and cannot have a coherent MMA discussion. The same people that think Brock is the best ever. The same people who think John Cena and Randy Orton would destroy the HW division.
I'm a Wrestling and MMA fan. I give props to Brock and Lashley for their accomplishments, no matter how small or undeserving. Lashley beats cans and barely beats Jason Guida and he is the next UFC champ and shit, Really? Brock atleast has beaten Herring and Couture

5starwrestlingradio 1 year ago
Mixed Martial Arts fighters actually require brain power when they compete. That is if you can even call "Pro Wrestling" competition. Also, the reason people trash on Brock Lesnar is because when he entered the world of MMA he should have left all his wrestling attitude there. MMA requires discipline. None of these "Pro Wrestlers" have brought the discipline that most of the original MMA fighters already have.
FightMMA5487 1 year ago
@FightMMA5487
"wrestling attitude there"-MMA and Pro Wrestling have the same origins. I must point out the fact that, that was a very naive comment. MMA is extremely wrestling like and even uses the same business model from time to time.
crazymike1706 1 year ago 2
@FightMMA5487 Dude really? Brain power? What do you think pro wrestling requires? They have discipline beyond discipline to dedicate to such a rigorous career. We can have this argument for years and years, but the truth is (even though scripted) pro wrestling is more demanding then MMA.MMA wasnt even respected as a sport(and still isnt by many) 15 years ago.Pro wrestling WAS an actual sport in the days of Lou Thesz and Verne Gagne.MMA is a very serious sport, but dont let WWE speak for wrestling
5starwrestlingradio 1 year ago
@FightMMA5487 and alot of your MMA fighters got into pro wrestling and were surprised at how physical the sport is.Especially in the puroresu scene.Brock Lesnar only picked MMA b/c he couldnt do his childhood dream, play in the NFL.Your so called golden boy,and possibly one of best pro wrestlers to never stay, settled into MMA as a second choice. That attitude he displayed isnt "pro wrestling",its his douchebag real life personality.
5starwrestlingradio 1 year ago
@FightMMA5487
MightyJabroni 1 year ago
What pro wrestling critics don't want to understand is that yes the storylines are scripted, but the outcome of the match is pre determined and the wrestling is real, you still have to go out and put out a good match with pure athleticism and be innovative, yes the shows are scripted but the wrestling is still a sport

they aren't ignorant just full of ego. they have attached themselves to something new and real and they think it makes them special. same as when kids first hear metal and they start trashing everything else. i think most people don't know pro-wrestling used to be real and became scripted because of the massive injuries from the matches being too long and brutal. pro-wrestling used to be similar to mma. people need to learn. i agree with this vid 100% man. you got it down. you know your stuff.

5starwrestlingradio 1 year ago
@5starwrestlingradio - WWE wrestlers are not trying to break each others bones. Accidents happen all the time but shit happens. They have no interest in breaking their "friends" ribs, knees, legs, splitting their skulls, etc.. deliberately. The wrestler are cooperating with each other to put on a show. Whereas in MMA there is an interest in breaking their opponent to end the fight and get paid. Nobody is cooperating, it isn't scripted. Wrestlers are athletes no doubt.
Got it?
iApna 1 year ago
@iApna i dont think MMA fighters are trying to split their opponents skulls or break bones.I think they are trying to beat their opponent yes.Submit, choke them out whatever. But I dont think they are trying to break a mans bones.Knocking him out is one thing, but thats different. However,in pro wrestling, their have been instances when they are trying to bust their opponent open(legitimately). They are trying to bruise him or black his eye.Thats gone on record in alot promotions
5starwrestlingradio 1 year ago
@5starwrestlingradio - Well I compete in Muay-Thai just starting off in MMA. When I executing a kick the intent is to go through them. Whether thats to the ribs, legs or head. This is the same with elbows and punches. I do not want to kill my opponent but if hes in my way when I kick I'm not holding back.

@5starwrestlingradio - Sure wrestlers are striking each other. But they are not hitting them with maximum force, which is obvious. Maybe the word "fake" isn't the right word but I don't believe "real" is either then.
I am not trying to disrespect the wrestlers as I do see them as athletes and they do get hurt.
iApna 1 year ago
@iApna that depends on what promotion you are looking at.Look at ROH from the early 2000s and they were throwing some stiff elbows, open palms and fists. No joking, they had mouses under their eyes and split lips. However WWE should never speak for the sport of wrestling.its a joke. Now maybe WWF from the late 90s was a bit more intense. But not this shit now
5starwrestlingradio 1 year ago
if you are talking about all the trash talking and such, then yea I agree, at least in the US. In japan, MMA fighters generally have a lot more respect for each other and their sport. Actually, I would say Japanese MMA fighters are some of the best sportsmen in the world, and the audience as well.
nels2379 1 year ago

I could not have said this better myself. I do like both, but I refuse to compare them at all. There are MMA fighters who respect pro wrestling, some are fans of it, too. I get sick of hearing people bring up MMA in a wrestling discussion.

I disagree with the last guy. Lesnar has also been an ass. I've never liked him, I'm a pro wrestling fan(more Puroresu and Lucha Libre).

lucky5th2 2 years ago
most mma fighters have taken roids as well. most of them cheat to make weight by using an iv and everything. announcer might say he weighed in at 215 but hes standing there at 265+
most pro wrestlers are in far better shape then mma fighters. mma fighters train weeks for 1 fight that can end any minute. wrestlers are on the road 300 days a year performing almost every night..sometimes 2 or 3 times a night. but bc its "fake" it gets written off. most of the guys in mma count handle it

ShaolinExile 2 years ago
I grew out of pro wrestling and am a huge MMA fan, but anyone who discredits these athletes because the were pro wrestlers is ignorant. "Rich Franklin is terrible because he taught math." How does that impact his skills as a fighter? Just because someone came from an industry geared towards entertainment instead of real combat doesn't mean they can't be real athletes and make a great transition.

Ksavage2010 2 years ago
The thing about a MMA match is after a fight, you might come out of a match without a scratch on you, and even if you dont you still have weeks to heal up and prepare for your next fight. In pro wrestling, you're pretty much guaranteed to come out of a match sore and hurting after being slammed on the mat 30-40 times whether you know how to take a bump or not, and chances are you gotta do it all again the next day. Wrestling is just as tough, if not moreso than MMA, bottom line.

People hate on Lesnar because he lost his first match and then was given a title shot in his second. People don't feel like he "paid his dues" in MMA before becoming the champion.

Thanks for this video Mike.

As for Brock, while I may not be a fan myself but he deffanetely can wrestle & or fight, case in point his NJPW stuff after he left the wwFe.
armandroh666 2 years ago
i like his UFC run so far but..i personally think Brock's stuff in New Japan sucked...
all he does is ran through their upper card roster in half assed matches and demand a big payday with less dates

not to mention not put Hiroshi Tanahashi over which led to the whole IWGP 3rd belt fiasco deal
dadirrtywhyteboi 2 years ago

Amen brother!!!
you can't compare pro wrestling to MMA because there two different things

I agree with you mike, yeah ill admit i use to bag Brock Lesnar about UFC. But when i watched him actually fight he is really good, so what that he was a pro wrestler, there is a complete difference besides WWE and UFC, WWE controls how there superstars train and fight, with UFC they go in and do whatever they want.

I don't like the fact he got a shot, when Werdum obviously earned his, but It's all about money.. Which is a shame.

Am3ricanW0lf 2 years ago
Great comparison I agree with all your points. Lesnar is doing well imo with MMA and can continue strong with it.
