I would buy this knife but I would probably never use it. I might even have to use a safe deposit box because it's too valuable. I don't even think banks would even let you store knives if they caught you.
I've have microtechs that wont punch thru paper also. The paper test dont mean shit. I doubt if half you posters here have held an infidel, much less owned one. The infidel will outlast them all!
nice lookin knife but only for lookin!!!!!!! benchmade OTF knives are overpirced JUNK! try holding a piece of paper around the front of the knife and it gets stuck!!!!!! tisk tisk tisk
Most dual action OTFs will do that, unlike a single action dual action knives do not have a constant pressure spring, which continuously pushes the blade out all the way to its locked position, and most still have a good amount of pressure at that point. A dual action knife spring is only barely tensioned in open and closed positions, and "slingshots" the blade out, using the blades momentum to reach the locking point. If you interupt that momentum it will fail to lock.
They have to be kept pretty clean, and over lubing most OTFs will also cause them to misfire(by attracting excessive lint/dirt). The springs on most only have a tiny bit of tension on them, only to keep the ends hooked on. Sliding the button stretched the spring further until the sears(locking mechanism) are released, the tension is a little more than what it takes to move the blade fast enough to overcome the friction and springs on the sears.
thanks. After seeing/discovering these types of knives recently, i've been trying to figure out the mechanism. never handled one since they're illegal here. I first thought "how?!" then i realized they must be inertia or some clever spring lever mechanism that flips and inverts itself after each action. I guess they're all slid in and out with a firm smack and inertia. and then there are the ones that must be manually cocked to reload the spring...
what a beauty this knife

They do that on purpose, so if it ever gets caught on something in your pants and launches open, you won't become a eunuch...

hmmm...so these must be kept completely clean internally to keep the blade moving in and out properly?
there isn't constant spring force all the way out to push the blade past dirt and grime
