It is the Islamic empire that founded the modern science today.. west still in dark ages or middle ages when Islamic scholar wrote about medicine (avi cinna), algebra (ibnu al jabbar), math (al khuarizmi) and so on... west scholar came to cordova (spain in the era of Islam) and learn all this science and go back to their home and only then came Renaissance era....

I'm from Kosova and I'm muslim this is my point of view for different religions culture:
maybe girls in islam culture get married too young but they aren't abused by their own fathers like in other none islamic countries,
women in islam have more respect from men then in any other religion..

Ah here, next you will be telling us there is no homosexuality in islam!! There is child abuse in every country and in every religion, it is an illness that your faith cant do anything about. And if you think islamic men treat their women with any more respect than a little then you are on drugs. Time to open your mind a bit, everything is just one big pissing contest with ye and the reality is nobody cares.

I saw a news reporter ask Yusuf ,at an airport, his opinion of the "fatwa" on S. Rusdie. It was years ago , right after the fatwa was issued by Ayatolah Komeini. (Sorry -mis-spelled) He had no "prepared" comment ready and spoke freely. He said he agreed with the fatwa, because it said so in the Koran. I was deeply offended, that HE, of all people, would say such a thing.

Men abuse women in Muslim culture? Name me one where they don't. Men in power try to hold on to it? No kidding. The American ruling class (mainly Christian)are willing to sacrifice the rest of the world to hold on to theirs. What else is new? Blame it on disobedience to God's laws, not the laws themselves. Blame it on MAN UNKIND. (Pity the poor monster not.)

None of the evils you list are particular to the Muslim community. Where FGM is practiced everyone does it--Muslim, Christian and pagan.
After 35 years as a Muslim I have never heard of a single forced marriage or "honor killing". The Muslims who "shroud their women in tents" are the tiniest minority.
Blaming abuse of women on Islam would be like blaming Colombian drug cartels and the Mafia on Catholicism. You might better ask why men don't always obey God's laws.

You won't get an argument from me that there is domestic abuse among Muslims. I have personal experience. I can't tell you what Muslim clerics in Britain say or don't say, because I've never been there, and I don't know much about what is being said in my local Masajid either because I work on Fridays. But I do know that if you think Islam encourages or allows abuse of women, you are wrong.

The Qur'an teaches that evil comes from the Devil, from disobedience to God's laws, from greed and coveteousness, from ignorance and irresponsibility, from lust, wastefulness and foolishness, just to name a few.

Yusuf Islam appears to be a man who has found peace within himself. And if that's not enough he has picked up his guitar again to share that with us. Anyone can hate. Only people of real character can love.

Perhaps you can tell me where in the Bible the same rights are specified?

Yusuf DID support the order to kill Rushdie. It's hypocritical, because he wrote "Peace Train". Only an idiot would deny it, because it was ON FILM.
