  • It kind of reminds me of Cowboy Bebop for some reason.

  • They're both different style-wise, but I still like both of them.

  • both versions are great, but that upright makes this the winner. :x

  • Akiko Wada gets no respect. Bitches don't know about my man-voiced Japanese feminist whose career has been going for ages.

  • If this song is the same in English as it is Japanese, the lyrics that is, then this is just creepy.

  • groovy

  • Nothing wrong with this one, but I think we got the better one. I can't see this one having the same impact on me. I can't even picture it fitting with that ladder part at all...that's just me...

  • The soul version of the original Snake Eater. Think what you want, I like it.

  • Ehm... Sorry, but I prefer the English version over this one <_<

  • Hitori yoru no yami wo samayoi Yobu koe ni kotae toketeyuku Anata no sasayaki Kokoro kuruwaseru Ai ni afurete inochi karetemo Watashi wa subete sasageru Tatoe uchi kuda karetemo Namida wa misenai snake eater Ame no naka ni futari Nurete hikaru kizuato Asu wa mienai demo futari Shinjite osorenai Ai ni afurete inochi karetemo Watashi wa subete hageru Tatoe uchi kuda karetemo Sore wa nozomi snake eater I'm still in a dream Snake eater
  • dududududududuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu duuu

  • this version i like it more than the american, something very hard to find but it is that way

  • 和田 アキ子 FTW

  • At first I didn't expect much, but this theme holds its own in my mind.

  • 13 KGB Soilders disliked the video

  • I feel sorry for the Japanese. This version just doesn't hold the candle for English version. It's still good, but not great.

  • @Tomahaukka This version is actually better imo.

  • Sounds like a track that would be in a Lupin movie...

  • this song would be perfect for a game like "yakuza" I think perfect in the last battle againt "goda ryuji" not for a MGS ^^

  • suuuuneeeeeku iiiitaaaaa"

  • This song is just overflowing with WIN!!

  • Damn, this is amazing

  • Wat the hell is this shit? am i being ricked rolled

  • This sounds like it should be the intro song for a MGS Game..Set in the 40's...

  • ROFL this ish had me dying!!

  • Amazing! That's really rare.

  • I could translate it but YT allows only 500 letters :(

  • Hitori / yoru no yami wo samayoi / yobukoe / kotae kokete-yuku / anata no sasayaki / kokoro kuru-waseru / ai ni afurete / inochi karetemo (snake eater) / watashi wa subete sasageru / tatoe / kuchi-kurakaretemo (snake eater) / namida wa misenai / snake eater --- ame no naka ni futari / nurete / hikaru / kizuato / ase wa mienai / demo futari / shinjite osorenai / ai ni afurete / inochi karetemo (snake eater) / watashi wa subete sasageru / tatoe kuchi-kurakaretemo / sore wa nozomi / snake eater...

  • i demand lyrics

  • Me encantó!

  • Sung by Hideo Kojima.

  • @ClickForOutkast LOL DO YOU KNOW ITS A WOMAN SINGING?

  • haha has a nice camp spy movie tone to it :)

  • lol this sucks big time.I'd take the English version any day over this

  • @DarthRevan317 they both r good

  • This song wasn't in the Japanese version. It's just a bonus track. I like both versions.

  • Huge fan of the MGSaga. Do prefer the English song

  • it sounds good. like an old Japanise Martial Arts movie.

  • dub>sub.....never thought id say that.

  • Wow. This is a lot different. Bluesy.

I guess it's aight for the Japanese people, but the sexy/badass, 007-esque English version is so much better.

  • this song introduces big boss... not a bar

  • WHERE ARE THE TREE FROGS!?

  • ooohhh Akiko Wada?

  • Oh i see Jazz - Ops for BIGBOSS

  • 3:29

  • This singer its awesome whats his/her name? and where i can find more of its works?

  • Snake was climbing a ladder, lol

  • Is this REALLY the original (Japanese) Snake Eater?

  • @knightmare864

Actually, the Japanese version is the same as the american version, but this was a bonus track in the Japanese version.

  • It would be better if the singer was a woman/would have a higher voice if the singer IS a woman.

  • Now, if that ladder had been an elevator...

  • Very rarely the English verison is better. But still awsome!

  • It loses the James Bond-y feel and exchanges it for a relaxing, almost anime-like tranquility. This sounds like the theme song for like Lupin the 3rd or Dragonball Z (I know, this is a little out there, but let's say Dragonball instead) or maybe...well, a lot of animes. I could see there being some kind of "in joke" in the American version where Naked Snake would hear this on one of EVA's radios or one of the "healing radios" would play this, this sounds like something that you'd hear on one.

  • american ver is best :P

  • Comment removed

  • I like this version too! its quite Funky :)

  • quite outstanding to say the least.

  • i bet when they heard the english version, they're like WHOAAAA DAMN

  • @Xterminator333 the japanese game also uses the english version, so most japanese people would probably be more familiar with the english version honestly. This song is on the album only.

  • Wow!!

    Impressive style Japanese!

  • 2:52 karate??

  • This sounds like it fits snake exactly XD

  • Snake Eater-er-er-er-er...

  • @Subsistancer

    Haha. "...er-er-er-er-er-er-er"

Sounds like an older version of the guy of sang the Dragonball theme.

  • the guy singin it reminds of the guy who sings the Katamari song for some odd reason. not a bad version, but i prefer Cynthia Harrell's version more.

  • This is the cheesiest cheesy top of Mountain Cheese Cheeserest. English version isn't even halfway close to the cheesy cheesiness of this one. Mad props to the makers, for doing something absolutely unique. Still I don't say this is awesome. Nor bad. It's just pure cheesiness, like from here to Mars (and it is far fucking more than 30 seconds, if you know what I mean).

  • @slickmonmon13 u sick, man

  • this is pretty cool, but i can't imagine playing the boss battle to this song. it meant so much to me when i heard the english version switch on halfway through. i've taken 2 years of college level japanese, too, it's honestly just the guys voice and the keyboard jam going on in the back. don't get me wrong, it sounds totally badass, but i don't think i would have been as emotionally invested if i played the game in japanese.

  • I didnt know anything of this version.

ok there is sometimes to much shaking at some notes, but its quite beautiful.

  • lol prefer english one!

  • I enjoy this either way. japenese/spanish/french/english I dont care. it's a beautiful game.

  • This version is the definition of awesome!

    SNAKE EATER!!!

  • the bass in this one is awesome, but the english one is way better

  • Comment removed

  • Well, this is interesting. I'MMMMM STILLLL IN A DREAAAM~

  • Actually, Akiko Wada is a woman...look it up! This song is quite different in style from the original English. It's not just a crappy dub, so in the end it's nice to have both.

  • One of those Japanese song I prefer in English.

  • female ver preferred

  • Ai amu sutiru in a duriiiiiiim, Sunaku Ita!

  • @NintendoNate25 Wuzzat mean? =o

  • @200ike lol, That's the Japanese pronounciation of "I am still in a dreeeaaam, Snake Eater!". 3:30 - 3:41 (although it should be "Sunēku Ītā", not "Sunaku Ita".

  • its ok I like the english one since im used to it.

  • i like it but i like cynthia's version more XD

  • this should be a music choice in mgo.

  • Love the vibraphones in the background. I still prefer the english voice though. It's much more powerful.

  • this version is okay, but i personally like the english version more, i liked how the american version sort of sounded like a song that could have been a James Bond song

  • I like the one where the lady sings it.

  • @mexanimenolink777 lol at you

  • This is *awesome*, I love the voice

They should have included the Japanese version as an easter egg, it'd be nice to hear this one on that endless ladder sequence...

  • I love the Cynthia Harrell version more...This one is good about instruments

  • ahaha! wicked vibrato! five stars (cynthia still gets the edge in this one though...)

  • JPN version of the song sounds good too.

  • Stealth is the keyword

  • *O* lo mejor!, aunque la versión original es lo maximo, pero esta es adictiva xD

  • Is this a man or woman singing ? Sound like a man to me.

  • it is a man.

imagine having a girlfriend with a voice like that.

  • I could imagine that, I bet she'd make loads of cash as the bearded lady.

  • lol good one

  • LOL xD

  • English version feels like James Bond 007. This version, however, somehow remind me of Pink Panther

  • i no

  • @makumek more of a hippies style acctually

  • @makumek

    THAT"S RIGHT

  • Love this shit.

  • dude its about raiden not johnny. watch the E3 teaser trailer also kojima mentioned that it will be a completely new experience. i guess its because of raidens style (ninja -> sword fighter)

  • Is this Kojima's leaked drunken karaoke recording?

  • HAHAHHAHA!!!!LOL!!!

  • any translation?

    please

  • lol man100%

  • Wada Akiko is indeed the best suited voice for this melody and jazz arrangement. Using her knack for the blues, she lends much bittersweet dimension and dignity to this melancholy ballad.

  • omg i love this japanese version!!!!

    so adictive!!!!

  • This is a game where the English Dub is actually better than the Japanese version

  • @Gamestoper007 Yeah but the game its originally Japanese, as in any language the game is the best, don't you think?

  • @Gamestoper007 this is actually just an arrangement done by the vocalist Wada Akiko. She has a really deep voice for a woman so it seems like a man singing. However, the original music is in English, just this is an arrangement kind of "inspired."

  • @trumpetman1989

she sounds like a strong willed black disco woman from the 70s

  • @Gamestoper007 Yeah... because it's not a japanese game after all...

  • haha, has a sneaky mood to it :P, I would guess for being a sneaky game :P.

  • This rulez lol so funny hahaha i wish this was the opening really :D 5 stars

  • awesome

    to my favorite

    5/5

  • 厳密には日本語版ではありません。

    これは日本の歌手とのコラボであり、

    ゲーム中では使用されておりません。

    ゲームではアメリカと同じものが流れています

  • "It is not Japanese edition strictly. This is [korabo] of the Japanese singer, in the game we are not used. With the game same ones as America are flowing"

That's what I got when I tried converting the Japanese text.

I'm not sure if you mean this song wasn't used in the Japanese version of MGS3, but instead still a bonus song? If so, that's quite interesting. Wonder if the Japanese copy of MGS3 still had the Snake Eater song from America then? :S

  • @clcproduction

Converting really doesn't help, does it.

"This [song] is not exactly what one may call a 'Japanese Version'. This is a collaboration between a Japanese singer, and is not used within the game itself, in both the American and Japanese versions." The Japanese shorten the word "collaboration" to "collabo" (Romaji: Ko-La-Bo) hence [korabo]. The Japanese singer is Akiko Wada, and she's a famous jazz(ish) singer.

  • @clcproduction "korabo" sounds like, uh, "collab", as in collaboration, yo. Makes sense, I guess.

  • Baka yaroo means... "Stupid Basterd"... sorry^^'

  • i know what it means lol.....i have been learning japanese for 5 years and i can write stuff in japanese etc xD

  • @nikonikohukuoka is this the song in kanji

  • @VagaBonDjs

    漢字の歌?

    それは日本語の歌という意味ですか?

    一応、この歌詞の内容は変更してあるみたいですね。

    日本語版のMGS3も、OPはアメリカと同じですよ。

  • @VagaBonDjs Obviously is Japanese, I can tell because I am Chinese.

  • cool

  • lol, something I would expect from someone with gamefaqs in their name.

  • Ah, excellente!

  • I think this is a famous Japanese woman singing this. If Im right she has like a really odd bowl-cut like haircut. She was popular with enka. Shes also a popular TV celebrity.

  • but its sounds good

  • just 4 fun i like playing the english version and this one together although this one is longer

  • What does the Japanese version mean in English? o0 I know the lyrics.

  • It's fairly similar to the English version. It's not totally different or anything.

  • Is this the the actual theme in the japanese version also?
