At 640x480 res capture and approx 30 fps, it seems to create 15MB of video data for every minute of capture, give or take. I'm using a 256MB SD card and I've got several video clips still on the same card with no space issues yet. It is conceivable that one could use a much larger SD card and divide the capacity by about 15MB to see how much video you can create/store there. My Aerobird does not have sufficient battery capacity to outlast my 256MB SD card, at any rate. :)
Sorry for the late reply. The pencam is working great even with some rough landings. I've yet to find a really good way to mount it to the Aerobird, but other than that it works well as a cheapo-depot aerial cam.
mount it facing backwards on the rod going to your tail. that will look cool, when i get mine thats what im gonna do and does it take special batteries
I'll certainly try that; I agree that the backward angle is very cool in that it shows the control surface deflection airplane reaction as well as giving a great perspective on the path traveled. With regards to the battery question: The Aiptek Pencam 1.3 SD takes 2 AAA-size batteries. I would advise you to keep the battery door open when the camera is not in use as it seems to consume the battery under full-contact even when turned off.
Hey foobeard, How long will that pencam record for? on aiptek's website it doesn't say if you can expand the memory or not. Thanks nice video
