@camirocz Yep black with a 6 speed, it belonged to a friend of my dads, I remember not liking the gearbox. It was far too 'industrial' for my liking, too much effort to engage gears. I did like the engine though even though it was quite primitive in design. Lots of torque to throw you about, but then again torque isnt everything, if it was we would all be in diesels. It may well rival the Germans and Italians in the speed department with its 'brute force' but as for build quality, nope, not yet.

Admittedly, the curvette has better brakes, then again The Flintstones had better brakes than most big block Mopars - but the Hemi 'Cuda wasn't made for anything other than 1/4 mile at a time. Do your homework kid, the Hemi made between 550-565 hp but Mopar conservatively rated it for insurance purposes. Some definite mistakes here in the description of this car. I bought my first Challenger in 1975 and have owned one continuously since. The two I own now, I have had since 1985 and 1988. I know E-bodies quite well. Two mistakes I caught are that the car doesn't have a Rim Blow steering wheel. That steering wheel is the standard E-body steering wheel for 1970 and 1971. Next-those are not leather seats, but vinyl. They are the standard Cuda bucket seats, covered in the standard vinyl material.
Someone needs to bone up on their info. That is not a leather interior, that was the standard interior on a Barracuda/Cuda. The steering wheel is not wood rimmed as mentioned. No such thing. It was simulated wood. Also, once a car is repainted, it is no longer unrestored regardless of how original it may be elsewhere. That aside, its an awsome car as are all Cudas, too bad the information given isn't correct.

Once a car is repainted it is no longer defined as a survivor since it is no longer original. A repaint is not considered a serviceable item.

Off topic, but there was a 1969 orange Dodge Charger 383 for sale local, seller wanted $8000. It hardly had enough power to cross the street and came with a warning-tow it because it won't last to make it home. I often wonder how something like that happened to a car like that. I mean they must have known these were unique cars and might be worth something some day. Didn't they appreciate their car they paid good money for?

E body stuff to them and checked out their paint department while I was there. They had a "real deal" '71 Hemi 'Cuda 4 speed convertable on their frame rack. Big dollar cars. Too rich for my blood. they used a hemi-clone for some of the shots, but mostly it was a car powered by a 440 or 383. In fact, the one that sold at Barrett-Jackson a few years ago had a 440 in it if I recall. There were 7 Hemi-Cuda convertibles made in 1971.
Im sure once the new Camaro finally hits the streets business will boom again for muscle cars. The new Camaro is by far the best shout-back to true muscle cars, the Camaro SS has 420 or so horsepower, matching the Challenger but getting MUCH better gas mileage, all while stomping the GT Mustang's ass at 305 horsepower...now a 420 horsepower, 6-speed camaro, if that doesnt put muscle back on the map, nothing will.
Well being frank its been a while and i've had some time to settle my oppinions on them all, and in all honesty i dont favor any brand, i love the new Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger...but to be fair the GT500 IS a beast but it doesnt cover the economic side like the Camaro does, its affordable and gets great mileage for a 425 horsepower V8, but i've seen that new 365 horsepower V6 from Ford and that thing is impressive to say the least

all hemi's were stopped production in 71, the 440 wen on for a few more years in muscle cars...if you want to call them that....but the compression dropped considerably and so was the horsepower

whats crazy is i bought a '70 383 cuda for $300 back in '87, was in sad shape but the body was straight and it ran! i had it until '92, had rebuilt the motor but had to leave it sitting for years because i had just gotten out of the airforce and priorities changed. like a dumbass i let it go for $600 to a friend who promptly sold it to some collectors who parted it out...17 years later and it still makes me sick thinking about it....live and learn.

Imagine your first car being a beast like this, can't say mine was. And have you ever felt the low rpm torque on these things? Corvette's are great but they sound like they have lopped off balls and you don't have the adrenaline rush driving one like you would a real muscle car. I would rather have a new Challenger tho.

@camirocz Yep black with a 6 speed, it belonged to a friend of my dads, I remember not liking the gearbox. It was far too 'industrial' for my liking, too much effort to engage gears. I did like the engine though even though it was quite primitive in design. Lots of torque to throw you about, but then again torque isnt everything, if it was we would all be in diesels. It may well rival the Germans and Italians in the speed department with its 'brute force' but as for build quality, nope, not yet.

The Hemi 'Cuda wasn't made so you could get your perm while driving it. Equipment? Navigation systems and iPod docks only clutter the instrumentation panel. The harsh reality is the Hemi 'Cuda would show you it's tail lights everytime. Put down your iPod, bolt on some slicks and get to the drag strip. You'll believe.

@camirocz With equal tire compound and tire width, the Hemi 'Cuda would show you it's tail lights everytime. Over 550hp tends to do that. Admittedly, the curvette has better brakes, then again The Flintstones had better brakes than most big block Mopars - but the Hemi 'Cuda wasn't made for anything other than 1/4 mile at a time. Do your homework kid, the Hemi made between 550-565 hp but Mopar conservatively rated it for insurance purposes. And yes, with the same compound and size tires as your curvette, it would show you it's tail lights repeatedly. The curvette would undoubtedly beat it on a road course, but the Hemi would own it at the dragstrip. No dreaming here, just reality. You should wake up and try it sometime.

Some definite mistakes here in the description of this car. I bought my first Challenger in 1975 and have owned one continuously since. The two I own now, I have had since 1985 and 1988. I know E-bodies quite well. Two mistakes I caught are that the car doesn't have a Rim Blow steering wheel. That steering wheel is the standard E-body steering wheel for 1970 and 1971. Next-those are not leather seats, but vinyl. They are the standard Cuda bucket seats, covered in the standard vinyl material.

Someone needs to bone up on their info. That is not a leather interior, that was the standard interior on a Barracuda/Cuda. The steering wheel is not wood rimmed as mentioned. No such thing. It was simulated wood. Also, once a car is repainted, it is no longer unrestored regardless of how original it may be elsewhere. That aside, its an awsome car as are all Cudas, too bad the information given isn't correct.

Once a car is repainted it is no longer defined as a survivor since it is no longer original. A repaint is not considered a serviceable item.
Consider that this car was at auction. Auctioneers will play up anything and everything to make a car look as appealing as possible to extract the most money.

It hardly had enough power to cross the street and came with a warning-tow it because it won't last to make it home. I often wonder how something like that happened to a car like that. I mean they must have known these were unique cars and might be worth something some day. Didn't they appreciate their car they paid good money for?

I know Restorations By Julious in Chatsworth, CA did at least one of the Nash Bridges cars for the studio. I sold all of my N.O.S. E body stuff to them and checked out their paint department while I was there. They had a "real deal" '71 Hemi 'Cuda 4 speed convertable on their frame rack. Big dollar cars. Too rich for my blood. I should have kept my 'Cuda's years ago, now all I can play with is my Dodge Darts!

they used a hemi-clone for some of the shots, but mostly it was a car powered by a 440 or 383. In fact, the one that sold at Barrett-Jackson a few years ago had a 440 in it if I recall. There were 7 Hemi-Cuda convertibles made in 1971.

Im sure once the new Camaro finally hits the streets business will boom again for muscle cars. The new Camaro is by far the best shout-back to true muscle cars, the Camaro SS has 420 or so horsepower, matching the Challenger but getting MUCH better gas mileage, all while stomping the GT Mustang's ass at 305 horsepower...now a 420 horsepower, 6-speed camaro, if that doesnt put muscle back on the map, nothing will.

Well being frank its been a while and i've had some time to settle my oppinions on them all, and in all honesty i dont favor any brand, i love the new Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger...but to be fair the GT500 IS a beast but it doesnt cover the economic side like the Camaro does, its affordable and gets great mileage for a 425 horsepower V8, but i've seen that new 365 horsepower V6 from Ford and that thing is impressive to say the least

whats crazy is i bought a '70 383 cuda for $300 back in '87, was in sad shape but the body was straight and it ran! i had it until '92, had rebuilt the motor but had to leave it sitting for years because i had just gotten out of the airforce and priorities changed. like a dumbass i let it go for $600 to a friend who promptly sold it to some collectors who parted it out...17 years later and it still makes me sick thinking about it....live and learn.

I have heard figures up to 130. They found and restored another 1971 Hemi Cuda from France even though its a rebody. That makes 12 cars now, not 11. Its a white 4 speed power window car. They just found a very rotted yellow 1970 Hemi Cuda covertible in Canada. There again, people thought they had all been found. That now makes 15 cars not 14 for the 1970 models. There has got to be a couple more out there. Who really knows how many Chrysler made of a certain muscle car? Take care, Clint H.
