Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. I've already made my 2012 New year's Resolution to sit out the '12 election. I may not be able to stop this Crime Against Humanity that both political parties are about to commit, but at least I'll starve to my death with a clean conscience of knowing that I didn't give my seal of approval to them by voting for them.

Listen, I don't like Cantor anymore than I like Nancy Pelosi. But Cenk needs to actually put things into context especially when its a Think Progress video. What Cantor was saying is what all Republicans have been saying for the past 8 months. SS, Medicare, and Medicaid are on a fiscal path to where the govt is not going to be able to keep its promises. By 2025, the CBO says interest payments, SS, Medicare, and Medicaid will consume 100% of the budget.
Cenk is not being truthful here. Social Security and Medicare have to be cut because they are unsustainable. They knew when they created the programs they were unsustainable. They are called entitlements because the Democrats never wanted them reformed. No one pays in enough individually to cover what they get out of them.

Medicare costs about 2 trillion a year. The goverment takes in about 2.5 trillion a year total. So Medicare is eating up all the revenue.

How about we do massive military spending cuts and reform including the unification of the three forces into one force called the United States Armed Forces and a national service which would allow for the elimination of duplicate bases the concentration of forces into regional "force groups" which would make mobilizations faster eliminate much of the bureaucracy that causes wasteful spending in the military and create a ready pool of people with training should the need for them ever occur.

(A.) Combine Soc-Sec with Medicare and -aid into one separate tax on the tax statement and consolidated fund in the Treasury. (B.) Make a Constitutional amendment to protect the fund from "borrowing" (read: plunder). (C.) Raise the Soc-Medicx tax to what it needs to be to sustain the programs every few years. (D.) People will agree to the tax increase so that these much appreciated programs don't go away.

Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. Why vote for either? Vote for a third party candidate. Will he/she win? Probably not. But if we keep voting for the better of two horrid parties, we only validate their outrageous actions, and prevent our broken system from ever being fixed.
Even if it's still too early for a third party candidate to actually win, the more votes they get, the more attention both main parties will pay to them. And, more importantly, the more willing other people will be to stray from the current 2 party system.

What Cantor was saying is what all Republicans have been saying for the past 8 months. SS, Medicare, and Medicaid are on a fiscal path to where the govt is not going to be able to keep its promises. By 2025, the CBO says interest payments, SS, Medicare, and Medicaid will consume 100% of the budget.

Your problem, with all due respect, is that you think this has anything to do with what you have paid into the system. Under of the tricks and gimmicks, Social Security is simply a welfare program. @redbonegal Do you dumb liberals know what 15 trillion of debt means? One trillion = 1,000 billions. So 15 trillion is the same as 15,000 billions! That is SERIOUS god damn debt. It is big enough debt to crash the dollar and to bankrupt the country. We have to pay it back and stop borrowing 1.7 trillion (1,700 billion) a year.
Medicare costs about 2 trillion a year. The goverment takes in about 2.5 trillion a year total. So Medicare is eating up all the revenue.

How about we do massive military spending cuts and reform including the unification of the three forces into one force called the United States Armed Forces and a national service which would allow for the elimination of duplicate bases the concentration of forces into regional "force groups" which would make mobilizations faster eliminate much of the bureaucracy that causes wasteful spending in the military and create a ready pool of people with training should the need for them ever occur.

(A.) Combine Soc-Sec with Medicare and -aid into one separate tax on the tax statement and consolidated fund in the Treasury. (B.) Make a Constitutional amendment to protect the fund from "borrowing" (read: plunder). (C.) Raise the Soc-Medicx tax to what it needs to be to sustain the programs every few years. (D.) People will agree to the tax increase so that these much appreciated programs don't go away.
