I hate to say it but, your star defense man isn't your star defense man if he isn't there.. Markovs contract is up this year, I suspect we won't see him in a habs uniform again.
@Ch1naManChan if he actually plays more than 5 games before being out for the whole season then yes I will be happy lol he's their best player when he's there
Markov is great, but hurt a lot. Staal didn't need to do that; he actually complained about Russians going after his knees earlier this season so he got his payback.
Let's hope it is not as bad as everyone think tho its the same knee, perhaps he got back to game slightly too soon and was still a bit fragile.
At least the habs can have some back up, talking about Picard, Webber and Bergeron as everyone seems to talk about. They, of course, would not replace totaly a veteran such as Markov but with the team they built so far they most not let this bring them down again.
@hydr5 I agree.... Staal kneed him. If I were in the lineup for the Habs, I'd definitely take Staal out on the next play as well. 20 years ago, there would have been a riot in retribution amongst Habs players and the opposition. Just goes to show how pansied-up hockey has become. Thank you twinkle toes Bettman. :(
It's honestly such a shame! He always gets injured, even when it's not his fault and this year was the year he was supposed to negotiate his contract with the Canadiens. You can't blame Staal, as it wasn't intentional. You can even see the emotion as he goes into the boards he smashes his hand in frusteration. Get better Markov!!!
