What happened to that Curlin when he flew out to Santa Anita and went backwards at the 1/8 pole in the Breeders Cup Classic. I thought he was suppose to be a 10 million dollar earner that could run on anything. Well, he found out how hard it is to run on dirt and synthetic. In fact, he couldn't even run on turf.

Zenyatta is really big for a female (17.2 hands and 1200 pds.), and that's why she won 18 in a row against much smaller mares - Ruffian had similar height and had the same success against fillies. But for all her size, Zenyatta was not extraordinary, barely beating an average turf specialist in 2009 and losing to another mediocre horse (compared to the likes of Tiz and Zapp) in 2010. The mare Goldikova has won 13 G1 races, inlcuding three Breeders, all against males - that's way better imo.
Rags to Riches' win over the great Curlin (Preakness and future BCC champion), to become the first filly to win Belmont in 102 years, is one of the greatest single feats by a female, and better than what Zenyatta did at the Breeders. The great mare Goldikova has beaten a lot more males than Zen, and has so far won THREE Breeders Cup races in a row, all against males. Zenyatta was fantastic, but there have been greater TBs in the last ten years who achieved more on the track.
Where was Zenyatta in the TC races of 07? - hiding in California racing fillies half her size. That's how she got 18 in a row. But rather than trying to play "Who is the strongest?", governments should concentrate and improving economy so each partner can benefit from that. The strong point thing can be shown on an example of horse breeding: I think Amercinas do great with breeding race horses. Europe strong point on the other side are more dressage and jumping horses. No need to play kindergarden because each country has something it is good at. =)

Zenyatta is really big for a female (17.2 hands and 1200 pds.), and that's why she won 18 in a row against much smaller mares - Ruffian had similar height and had the same success against fillies. But for all her size, Zenyatta was not extraordinary, barely beating an average turf specialist in 2009 and losing to another mediocre horse (compared to the likes of Tiz and Zapp) in 2010. The mare Goldikova has won 13 G1 races, inlcuding three Breeders, all against males - that's way better imo.

Rags to Riches' win over the great Curlin (Preakness and future BCC champion), to become the first filly to win Belmont in 102 years, is one of the greatest single feats by a female, and better than what Zenyatta did at the Breeders. The great mare Goldikova has beaten a lot more males than Zen, and has so far won THREE Breeders Cup races in a row, all against males. Zenyatta was fantastic, but there have been greater TBs in the last ten years who achieved more on the track.

Where was Zenyatta in the TC races of 07? - hiding in California racing fillies half her size. That's how she got 18 in a row. Then she barely beat Gio Ponti (Gio who?!) in 09 and lost to Blame in 2010, another mediocre horse compared to 21st century greats like Tiznow and Ghostzapper. Tiznow is the true American hero of the Breeders Cup, fighting off the best Europe had to offer in 2000 and 2001.That horse, along with Smarty Jones, Curlin and Ghostzapper are the best of this century.

@emmelby That horse's name is Switch. After this she placed 2nd in the Breeders' Cup F&M Sprint, won 2 Grade 1 7 furlong races, and has placed in two more Grade 1 routes. She's a very talented runner.
