The first time I heard this song, I melted. It really touched my heart. So simple yet powerful! It's really ministering to me right now :'( ... There's no one else to call on but JESUS!!!
Your points about the prodigal are good, but they don't have anything to do with the discussion. The point is, that the father did not allow him to bring the hogpen mentality back into the house. HE HAD TO REPENT AND FORSAKE EVERY PART OF IT. The lyrics of the song are OK, and the music is really not half as bad as most of the other junk I'm hearing, but I can't stand the breathy, raspy vocals. Why do that? It's not necessary or complimentary. It draws attention to the flesh, not to God.
sensibleadult: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Your comments are sick, evil and disgusting. You have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. The Bible warns us about religious people like you. This music puts the emphasis on true worship of Yeshua the Messiah. Please refrain from posting such nonsense.
@Classof67 YOUR comments are sickening to me. I am telling it like it is. This music is a nauseating example of spiritual immaturity. The Bible warns about charlatans such as you. You are doing exactly what you accuse me of doing.
Why do you have to sing so breathy? I believe this type of music is encouraging the homosexual spirit to come right on up into our choirs and churches. This is the music of a weak, powerless, anemic Christianity that has no separation from the world, no doctrine- just love, love , love, grace, grace, grace. Ridiculous!
@sensibleadult hmmm... it's no wonder why people like you are always angry, bitter and look like someone baptized in lemon juice. no love and grace - only doctrine, doctrine, doctrine.. haha
ps. and regarding the critic, i noticed that you focused on homosexuality. i remember that when the prodigal son came back to his father, the older brother was angry with the younger son who wasted his possessions in "harlots". (i wonder... why'd he focus on that? could it be?....^^
@akatsukitensei01 It could be that wasting money on harlots was a stupid and asinine thing to do. I sympathize with the older brother; the prodigal caused nothing but heartache- he is typical of today's liberal youth- wasting time chasing pop culture while the ones who pay the way get shafted. If the older brother hadn't been faithful, there would have been no fatted calf to come home to.It's time to get our music out of the hogpen.
@revhowardgoss i definitely agree that what the younger brother did was wrong - in fact, terribly wrong that he went down to feeding pigs, the lowest and most disgusting job there could be in their time. however, the story doesn't actually focus on the evil deeds of the younger son, but on the goodness of the Father. Jesus was giving us a picture of our Heavenly Father - a loving and gracious father.
@revhowardgoss the older brother was doing good, i agree, but he was basing his relationship with the father on his works. he was expecting his father to bless him because he was doing good, whereas the father told him, "everything i have is yours." isn't it so ironic, he could have gotten the fatted calf anytime he wanted, but because his perception of his father was so small, he only went for the young goat. imagine? he was willing to settle for a kid when he had everything.
@revhowardgoss i listened to the entire song and find no fault in it. in fact, the lyrics speak of how good our God is. i would respect your preference in choosing songs though, because i would agree that not everyone has the same musical preference. but as for the lyrics, i would say that it was great.
Who could dislike this song?!?!? Beautful yet simple chord progression. B D A E. And the lyrics are amazing. Let everything that has breath, Praise the Lord!!
The soft voice was hard to pick up. It was pumped so high that the drums were coming through my in-ears. It was nearly deafening. That'll teach me to project. But the song felt like it called for it.
Haha... His name is Jason Tam. He is a pastor at Gateway church...He is awesome. You gotta see him in person. Remember that the good news goes out to every gentile out there.
This is such an amazing song: My friend, my king... we can call Jesus our friend, what a beautiful truth

This is the power of the last day church to save the searching soul. As long as you search for HIM.
