it must have been running flat out for weeks it might help if you change the thermostat, it will save you spending money on electric, also you can spend some money on food filling the the fridge up instead of bottles of water
use acetelene torch it' ll defrost in half the time

@kkbose LOL yes.. and it will defrost the aluminium and steel parts too.
but thinking twice... I think it would be a good idea, once I retire this fridge and now it is rusting in my backyard...

If you get the insulation wet on the older refrigerators, you will loose the insulation value and the will corrode.
