  • My dad was an original 4-1. Today is the anniversary of his death. He was haunted by what he had done in WWII; but very proud of his service.

At Cassino he lost his hearing and almost died. He had 2 purple hearts from his service with the Force. After he was discharged he healed up and rejoined the army and served in the 82nd!

I considered him the greatest man I've ever known--until I went to my first FSSF reunion in Helena.

  • unfortuntly i do not have the hounor of being related to someone from the FSSF

however i am part of a living history group that re-enacts the FSSF and have had the privilage of meeting a veteran of the FSSF, Sam Magee.

  • thank you for posting this series as well as the other information about the FSSF aka the black devils My late great uncle Clarence Campbell was a proud member of the unit though the first time i met him i had no idea what he had accomished during the war. I was only 6. But He was a high school math teacher after the war and he was from Westville Nova scotia. Just wish i was able to have talked to him more now that I'm older and in my 30's. The battle colours are in HFX

  • Thanks for a nice video!

  • Thanks. I hope you've seen the television series "The Devil's Brigade". I did sound on that show and climbed the mountain with them. It was an honour and a privilege to have met some of the members of the FSSF during the taping of the show.

  • Our Grampa was too. What a wonderful man he was. We lost him in 2008. We will have the memories all the rest of our days. Thank you for your beautiful video.

  • My uncle was a Black Devil. His name was Cecil Litster, a Canadian boy who recently passed away at the age of 90. His leg was badly wounded but his spirit never was. He spoke fondly of his unit and his stories will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you for making this video. God bless.

  • wow... just.. wow...

  • The parts of history that will never be forgot, for men like those in The Black Devils Brigade. The men of Arnheim.
