I was there too and how it came about I attended a dedication on the mound at Nanaikapono elementary where I met Cyril. We grew together in Waimanalo and Lanikila Housing. So, I decided to fly to California and join everyone at this first and memorable concert.I came home and spent time with Ray Kane because I wanted to say thank you for all what you had contributed to my life.I didn't get to say thank you to my uncle (cyril's dad) for keeping me sane as a college student in CA with his music.
@KaohiWaianae it was so great to meet you! I met you at the school and didn't believe you when you said you were going to fly over but you did! Thank you so much for the support and I still have the bracelet you gave me too!
I was privileged to participate in a workshop with Ozzie the morning of the second day of the festival. Then I got to see the concert afterwards........What a treat.
I hope to be fortunate enough to participate in next years festivities.
Mahalo, Piko of Hawaiian Concert Guide for sharing this link with us! As a "wannabe Ka'amaina" living far from HI and CA, this is a treat to listen to and watch since I couldn't be there : )
I was there at the 2008 Southern California Slack Key Festival! It was an amazing experience to see all that talent on one stage and a truly memorable night. I cannot wait for the 2nd Slack Key Festival next year and also for the Aloha Falsetto Festival this July 13th!
