giving a six just because it has bad voice acting and nearly no text its just not fair......the graphics here are way better than on the GC one and the mechanics are very different and more innovative and varied , this game is better for one player cause its way more inmersive thanks to the awesome cutscenes.....again 7.5 is what it deserved
@imhavingsexrightnow You misunderstand. I'm criticizing the people who wrote the story AND the voice actors who performed it. The thing you're ignoring is that RPG games are very common, and Crystal Bearers doesn't offer anything new beyond the Wii's standard motion-control gimmick. The game is full of plot holes, poor voice acting, and poor translating. It's pretty and you can have fun with it, but it's not a top-tier game, thus it isn't a seven. Try Mass Effect or Dragon Age. THOSE are RPGs.
@SamusX10 i'd replace mass effect with final fantasy vi. now that was a good rpg. dragon age was another good one but the character creation was... off my guy always looked good when making him but in gameplay he looked lame (same goes with mass effect but mass effect was a bit strange and not in the way i liked) final fantasy vi was a greate game can't wait to get it for the ps3.
Its not the greatest but it is enjoyable and a great game to relax from a typical ff RPG. It isnt as serious and hardcore as ff13 but its fun mood and actualy feels like a final fantasy game. Its not a bad sequel amd btr than almost all sequels so i say give it a try
@DiazThumb Except it isn't. Crystal Bearers is an average game. If you like RPG games, pay a couple bucks and play Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube. You'll get a much better experience. The voice acting is top-notch, and if you don't like it, you can skip it. Crystal Bearers force-feeds you bad, poorly-translated sequences over and over.

@imhavingsexrightnow The graphics are good for the Wii, but it still suffers from the console's limitations and a lack of creative effort. It looks about as good as the standard Final Fantasy game. The game rating has to take into account things like replay value (of which there is none here), voice acting (which is terrible), and writing (sub-par). While the game is enjoyable, Crystal Chronicles on the gamecube was better, and this is just unacceptable.
I always buy a game if IGN says it's bad. They use reverse psychology. As long as you know that, you'd know when they say 6, it's really 9, and 2 is really 5.

I played a little thorugh this game, I was quite attracted by it´s story, the battle system is repetitive, but fun, I loved the part of the beach XD
The voice cting wasn´t that stale, but I think is way more interesting in japanese (I do speak it). I actually didn´t get the upgrade mechanics, as they r not that inmersive. Minigames are fun. Chocobo racing is tough as hell.The worst thing was that I got stuck kind of at the middle of the game,this game deserves at least an 7.5 GO PLAY IT :D
I see this game as a ton of mini games lead by the same protagonist to create an overall plot. At the same time, I don't really see this game to be "final fantasy material" and therefore I don't think it should be rated as one. The game overall has a great concept, though short, it is entertaining. So IGN, no, I do not agree with the horribly low rating you gave a game of this style. Instead of rating based on its fellow final fantasies, I dare you to give it a rating based on its uniqueness.

The problem with this is that it's clear the reviewer doesn't actually care about games and even shows he doesn't pay much attention.
This had some of the wierdes things Ive eve said. Such as, "a moogle is following my tree," " I have a cow gun" "a scarecrow hit me" "I just threw a turtle" and other wierd things.
I honistly though this was the best Final Fantasy I have played sense 9 this game made me feel like I was playing Zelda and Final Fantasy at once the cut seans are amazing and action packed this game was 100 times better then 13 and this deservs a lot more credit! One of the best story and game I have ever played thumbs up if you think also!
Now, I havent played the game, but it seems IGN just mentioned several minor flaws, and just built them up too much. For instance, 'stale voice acting'? FFX had some bad voice acting, but is one of the best FF games there is. And as everyone else says: Is it really a BAD thing that you play around with chicks on a beach??
The yukes use magic, the lilites drove them out. Get your story right, for a Wii game, this game is amazing although I do agree the map system can get anoying.
I'm not a final fantasy fan but why aren't the hardcore final fantasy games on wii as well as ps3 and xbox I mean if they have this game for the wii then it means they're allowed to do it so why don't they?
@IanTheCameraGuy this is a Final Fantasy spin-off, not truly part of the FF series. FF is known for high production values, why would they lower the standards when they have other platforms that have higher capabilities graphically. Maybe they will release something on the Wii U.
@IanTheCameraGuy It took a lot of money for Microsoft to get Square to put FF13 on the Xbox. I think Sony pretty much have Square Enix tied up with the FF series. Hence, Crystal Chronicles for Nintendo

bitch, this game was epic! not being able to find the next checkpoint in the story was fun, it let you explore around! who gives a shit about what this guy says, this was a real fun game and thats just it. it had a good plotline and suspense, what else would you want?
I heard "..magic using Lilty Tribe" and I was done -_- I bought this game like a month ago and I still haven't put it done. I've beaten it like 4 times already but I'm still going around and seeing new things I missed my first few playthroughs. This game has a lot of offer and it does a great job in almost every aspect. I'm really glad I got it :3

bad review all around and what was that about the camera on the d-pad being bad i mean i think more games should use the d-pad that way when the changed that on force unleashed 2 i could barely play trying to move the camera and doing something else the d-pad placement makes for good camera controls
i don't know if its a bad review, seeing everyone has their opinions, i havn't played this just came to take a peek. however i agree with the d-pad camera, when its the ''pointer'' (its called a Wiimote) there is a need to hold it in line with the image. that never worked for me in any game that uses this.
This game is fucking awesome and everyone should give it a try!! Only bad thing is music, which is not bad, but doesn't go along with the style of the game most of the time (too kiddie)!
I haven't played this game, but it looks a lot different than the original, maybe a letdown since I was expecting a wi-fi-semi-MMO (kinda like dragon quest IX) but with Crystal Chronicles, making your own caravans, with players around the world, and that was it, but... I don't know... Now with the WiiU coming and all, I would love to see a game that's more like the original (and Echoes of time was decent IMO, but... eh)
1: The battle system seemed really clunky, and Layle's powers were very inconsistant on what they could do.
2: A lot of mini-games were amazing, but many were pointless.
3: The plot and acting were also amazing, especially considering how much worse they could have been.
And 4: The battles make a huge spike in difficulty later on, making it too hard to clear an area in time, meaning you have to start over if you want the rewards.
The game is good but the problem with it was the controls! I didnt want to throw enemy around. I wish there was a sword and use that throwing mech as a grapple or somthing or for other things. At lest it feels like a final fantasy series a little. The world is nice i dont care if its not polished at lest the world is colourful. But once agian what realy fustrated me was the controls and maybe the back tracking.
The true Error of FFCCCB if you ask me lies in the story, it just isn't as captivating as FF's are supposed to be and it lacks proper development. I find the character development mediocre at best and I just miss the utterly captivating addicting spark that signifies Final Fantasy games. It got the style and gameplay- it lacks the story.
I utterly missed having people accompanying me and actually feeling a connection to the main character and it's peers.
Dear god IGN, the storyline was good amongst usual stories but mediocre compared to the old styled Final Fantasies, but by all means FFCCCB is a step towards the older FF's and not the newer FF's, if you would have bothered to know your history you'd have known the style and general feel is very alike the older FF games.
The gameplay by all means is unique and if you bother exploring it's a blast, tons of easter eggs and hidden missions.
The minigames are short and easy if you're good at em.
I have to admit I was pretty dissapointed with this game. As a kid the original Crystal Chronicles was the most played game between my friends and I and we spent many late nights playing the game over and over.
This wasn't what I wanted from this game, I wanted an awesome multiplayer romp like before. I gave it a try anyway and it's ok, but even as a stand-alone it's not anything special like the original was...

It's true, the scripted scenes and the voices are just UGHHH. Also, this game is too easy. But I really loved it, especially the art I really like the art. The art is nice. yeah. c:
You have to admit though, there should be at least three times as many boss battles. I think that some kind of optional battle arena or something would have done amazing things for this game.

If it would have worked off what foundation FFCC:GCN had, multiplayer zeldalike dungeon crawling, and fixed grievances (lolGBA) they coulda had a solid game.

I was in the middle of FFXIII when i started this, and lets just say I didn't go back until I finished this game. better that Oot? everyone can have their opinion, even a reviewer. mine is: Spirit tracks was fun sure but at the same time the weakest Zelda in the last few years. normally i restart a Zelda game after i finish it, then go again and try to find everything. i finished tracks and that was it for me, i think even Phantom Hourglass was better. i think it was really the trains, it just didn't fit with the overall Zelda feel, it worked gameplay wise but ruined the mood a bit.
I got it for Christmas when it first came out and ended up putting it down after about two hours of game play. Recently I picked it back up and I actually really love the story, albeit a few sections where it gets a little off-track (beach party scene, wtf?) But this is a pretty accurate review imo, the gameplay really is not that fun.
he's saying how stale the gameplay is and how there isn't much 'meat' to be found... I don't know about you, but it definitely looks fun! *goes and rents it*

Now, I havent played the game, but it seems IGN just mentioned several minor flaws, and just built them up too much. For instance, 'stale voice acting'? FFX had some bad voice acting, but is one of the best FF games there is. And as everyone else says: Is it really a BAD thing that you play around with chicks on a beach??

@IanTheCameraGuy this is a Final Fantasy spin-off, not truly part of the FF series. FF is known for high production values, why would they lower the standards when they have other platforms that have higher capabilities graphically. Maybe they will release something on the Wii U.

I haven't played this game, but it looks a lot different than the original, maybe a letdown since I was expecting a wi-fi-semi-MMO (kinda like dragon quest IX) but with Crystal Chronicles, making your own caravans, with players around the world, and that was it, but... I don't know... Now with the WiiU coming and all, I would love to see a game that's more like the original (and Echoes of time was decent IMO, but... eh)

I disagree with a few points.
1: The battle system seemed really clunky, and Layle's powers were very inconsistant on what they could do.
2: A lot of mini-games were amazing, but many were pointless.
3: The plot and acting were also amazing, especially considering how much worse they could have been.
And 4: The battles make a huge spike in difficulty later on, making it too hard to clear an area in time, meaning you have to start over if you want the rewards.

The game is good but the problem with it was the controls! I didnt want to throw enemy around. I wish there was a sword and use that throwing mech as a grapple or somthing or for other things. At lest it feels like a final fantasy series a little. The world is nice i dont care if its not polished at lest the world is colourful. But once agian what realy fustrated me was the controls and maybe the back tracking.

The true Error of FFCCCB if you ask me lies in the story, it just isn't as captivating as FF's are supposed to be and it lacks proper development. I find the character development mediocre at best and I just miss the utterly captivating addicting spark that signifies Final Fantasy games. It got the style and gameplay- it lacks the story.
I utterly missed having people accompanying me and actually feeling a connection to the main character and it's peers.

Dear god IGN, the storyline was good amongst usual stories but mediocre compared to the old styled Final Fantasies, but by all means FFCCCB is a step towards the older FF's and not the newer FF's, if you would have bothered to know your history you'd have known the style and general feel is very alike the older FF games.
The gameplay by all means is unique and if you bother exploring it's a blast, tons of easter eggs and hidden missions.
The minigames are short and easy if you're good at em.

I have to admit I was pretty dissapointed with this game. As a kid the original Crystal Chronicles was the most played game between my friends and I and we spent many late nights playing the game over and over.
This wasn't what I wanted from this game, I wanted an awesome multiplayer romp like before. I gave it a try anyway and it's ok, but even as a stand-alone it's not anything special like the original was...

If it would have worked off what foundation FFCC:GCN had, multiplayer zeldalike dungeon crawling, and fixed grievances (lolGBA) they coulda had a solid game.

I won't say anything about the game, since I haven't played it, but everyone is entitled to their own OPINION. Mark finds the game easy, fans find it hard. Mark hates the story, fans love it. Fair enough, simple as.

I hate it when devs take hardcore gaming franchises, then turn them into casual games that have no challenge, because they try too hard to be accessible to everyone.
It's one reason why I've gotten sick of playing recently released Nintendo games, and it's the main reason why the Super Mario Galaxy games are not fun to replay (or at least not for me).

better that Oot? everyone can have their opinion, even a reviewer. mine is: Spirit tracks was fun sure but at the same time the weakest Zelda in the last few years. normally i restart a Zelda game after i finish it, then go again and try to find everything. i finished tracks and that was it for me, i think even Phantom Hourglass was better. i think it was really the trains, it just didn't fit with the overall Zelda feel, it worked gameplay wise but ruined the mood a bit.

I got it for Christmas when it first came out and ended up putting it down after about two hours of game play. Recently I picked it back up and I actually really love the story, albeit a few sections where it gets a little off-track (beach party scene, wtf?) But this is a pretty accurate review imo, the gameplay really is not that fun.
