Our lab used more of a fluctuating saw wave with a cloak filter with a similar effect (with less noise/fuzz). Excellent work!

hey really great tutorial.
do you have a idea, how they did the other sounds like humming or loading a weapon or the blaster/weapon shots?
please make a second tutorial, about the transformer sounds. i absolutely love them

good job on explaining a few features in the subtractor, helps out a lot :). the video or image of your screen does seem a bit compressed together, but since you say everything you do it's not really a problem, just a minor detail.
