  • I forgot to post that I didn't know you could post MP3 files up to youtube without video. I'll have to keep that in mind!

  • i remember this tape wìch 2me with my unit i got in 1981 when i turned 5. Brings back great memories!

I used side 2 to record myself throing a milk crate down the basement stairs and getting my mother going. Thanks for posting!

  • I just figured it out! The narrator is KEVIN KLEIN!

  • @Carmel615 Really? Where did you figure it out?

  • @shairaptor Just listening to his voice. There is no mistaking that! And I misspelled his name. Kevin Kline

  • @Carmel615 Interesting, thanks for the information!

  • God Bless you for posting this!

  • @Carmel615 You're very welcome, glad you like it! :)

  • Wow brings me back!

  • OMG! Thanks you so much for posting this! My god this brings back so many wonderful childhood memories! Like someone said, it is amazing how well one remembers this.....:')

  • @flexiblebus glad you like it and I could bring back some fond childhood memories to you! yes the fisherprice recording is a real treasure :)

  • @flexiblebus I thought the same exact thing!

  • wow! how awesome! i remember practicing my foghorn impression for hours!

  • @tugboat0970 cool, glad you like the recording :)

  • The recording of Christina's birthday party always, and just did, crack me up. Shortest birthday party ever.

  • @Kajayacht Hehe thanks for your comment. Yes it's priceless as is the whole recording :)

  • I don't remember it at all. It's because I never had it. I had the 1984 tape with music on it… Maybe this one never was released in my area (NL, Europe)? Also, it seems this one was before the time I had the cassette recorder….

  • @slashtiger1 Yes maybe it wasn't released in Europe. I'm German, and american friends of us brought us the tape (I got it for my like 4th or 5th birthday or something in 1982 or 1983 or so) and this mp3 recording is from that very same tape. For that the sound quality is astonishingly good. :)

  • YES.......it's finally here!!!!!

  • I wish I'd had one of these when I was young, thing is it wouldn't have lasted too long with me because I was pretty rough with things, some toys I had didn't last long at all. This tape is really clearly done, it's a shame you don't see stuff like this now.

  • @Lachlant1984 now that you say it, yes, I wonder why Side A of my cassette is in such an extremely good shape, because the second side sounds worn off because I've recorded a lot of stuff ( I think) back then :) and I was quite rough on things too (many kids are I think, or they aren't very careful with toys).

  • Oh my goodness. I haven't heard this in years and years, but it's amazing how well I remember it.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i miss these stories!! its sad i remember this lol

  • hmmmm i dont remember this... was this on the re-recordable side of the cassette??

  • @nickiaaaaa oh wait... maybe there were different versions of the tape... i had the one with the music on it

  • @nickiaaaaa i think it came with the tapedeck

  • Please send me a copy of this, I want to be able to play it for my son, like I used to listen to it.

  • @jpw19798 use downloadhelper, a download plugin for firefox, it's easy to download with it

  • @shairaptor how did you record this on to youtube so perfectly???

  • @melissa3289 I just recorded the tape from the tape recorder (not the fisher price one ;) to PC and saved it as mp3.then uploaded to youtube :)

  • Well me being an 80's child I had this recorder and I remember this tape like the sound man and chopsticks and the sound ideas story like crinkling cellophane for a fire. it's so cool to be listening to this again, Thanks so much for posting.

  • @coondogtheman1234 Thanks for your very nice comment, glad you like it. :) I'm an 80s child too, really nostalgic recording :)

  • @shairaptor

Time to make an MP3 of this recording so I can listen anytime.

  • 1987, not 1980.

  • @mihalylovics My cassette is from 1980. Maybe the shown cover is from the 1987 cassette version.

  • Thank you for posting!

i had so much fun with the Fisher Price tape recorder and loved to play and re-play this tape! I recently lost it and was so disappointed. I am glad to see there are so many other people online who also remember and enjoy the rendition of "On top of old Smokey "with the Pet Rhino additions. My all time favorite is the fog horn imitation.

How can i download a copy of this recording?

    Thanks again

    gwen

  • @swamigwen Hi and thanks for your comment! :) Yeah the fisher price tape recorder is great nostalgia! You can try a firefox plugin called Downloadhelper, it's so easy to use and to download content from Youtube with it! :)

  • I still have this tape! But the sound isn't as good as yours, apparently. Thanks for posting.

  • @unfasten thanks a lot for your comment! :)

  • You're killing me! I searched for this on a whim, and was thrilled to find it. I had a Fisher Price tape recorder when I was about five, and it came with this tape. I must have listened to it a hundred times. Thanks for uploading this!

  • @stevelikestocurse Thanks, glad you like it, very nice to read your very friendly comment :) I'm German and I had it as a 6 year old and recorded some radioplays and drum solo on my table, funny recordings on my B side of the cassette :)

Just noticing the recording runs 14 minutes, and I didn't know at that point that Youtube supports 15 minute uploads now! Lucky me, hehe :-) Care to talk about the fisher price A side? What's your favorite part? :)

  • @shairaptor As a child, my favorite parts were the "On Top of Old Smokey" sing-along and the sound effects story. Hearing it for the first time as an adult, I liked how tongue-in-cheek the whole thing is, which was totally over my head all those years ago. It's really a wonderful, clever little presentation, and listening to it again fills me with warm memories of a very happy time.

  • @stevelikestocurse Oh yeah I love that parts too. I also very much like the sound man with chopsticks (as a kid I thought these were elephants trumpeting ;) and yes the special ideas for using your tape recorder ("idea number one/two/three" *jingle*) hehe :) Very great childhood memories! American friends brought the tape recorder to us to germany and I got it for birthday I think. Nostalgia ftw! :)

  • Thanks for uploading this. I was about 6 when I first heard this tape back in the early 80´s.

  • @parkerfly2000 You're welcome, a pleasure :) Yes I was equally young when I heard the tape first in the early 80s, maybe younger (4 or 5 years of age). Thanks for your comment. :)

  • @shairaptor, The funny thing about this is that I didn´t speak english by the time I used to listen to this tape... and the amazing thing is that somehow I was able to phonetically remember all the words of the introduction. This way, I was able to browse it on youtube.

  • @parkerfly2000 Cool! :) I'm German and not a native english speaker and this tape was the first touch for me to the American language. And yes I also memorized the phonetics or the melody in the voice of the people of the tape, now of course I understand 100% of the text (or close to that ;). Glad that you found the tape on Youtube, I appriciate your kind words :)
