  • This is great.

  • can someone tell me what particular synths and being used in this song, along with many of the other songs off of this ep and the "here comes everybody" album?

  • YEah. The Drums brought me here

  • I came here because of the drums too.

  • I love this song, i don't give fuck what people think, if they don't like it, it's their loss, they're missing out.

  • this song is much too gay

  • oh wow .. never heard of The Wake. More!!

  • right time, wrong place

  • grande tthe wake , saludos para toda la gente amante de la buen music desde peru :D

  • <3 this...

  • @williamsterben The real Wake? Sure. Keep listening to what sounds like old men straining on the toilet, amplified.

  • @nicck Or a man who bought some Sisters of Mercy records to learn, but couldn't play them properly...

Great tune from a great collection :)

  • I came here bc of Drums site, too. Like The Wake....getting a bit of Lush...kind of... Peace from Hong Kong. Off to see Drums tmro

  • I came here because of taste :) x

  • what are the chords on this song ?

  • This actually is one of the fucking best songs i have ever heard

  • pale spectre and shadow cried ,heaven'll help you out visitant

    awesome!

  • the bass on this song is fucking incredible. In fact , the whole song is :)

  • This is probably the finest single release from The Wake - better even than the two singles before it (Of The Matter and Talk About The Past), only because on this 4 tracker they have finally stepped out from the shadow of New Order and come up with a fantastic and diverse pop record! Shame it was their last for Factory and soon they would sign to Sarah Records and become a completely different sounding band ..... Still a great band though : some of their Sarah stuff is also quite good.

  • last winter i listened to this record and lyceum by the orchids together non-stop. two very complementary flavors. this is my favorite wake track. thanks!

  • I came here because of the drums :) x

  • @cassidapax U suck

  • @cassidapax i know right

  • they played this song on the PA between the support act and headline of a Pains Of Being Pure At Heart gig. it made me happy :). if you like this music defo check out Pains.

  • Such a perfect song! Thanks for posting! :D

  • The 'sha la la' chorus is just infections. Great song!!

  • I love this song because it has such an ambiguous/mysterious undertone and sound to it.

  • This is one of my all time favorite song aside from Plastic flowers. A classic slam dance 80's new wave party music!

  • SHALALALALALA!!!

  • Who is Caesar Nicck?

  • @anaalano The singer/songwriter/guitarist in The Wake!

  • I just so love it! It keeps me awake whenever I do 10pm-6am shifts :) Thanks Nicck for posting :)

  • what a great song

  • this is best !

  • Love it!

  • This song seems like it's about immigration.

    (cough)

  • No idea, I never really looked into it that much...just danced like an idiot.

  • I'll ask Caesar sometime :]

  • lol..... i wanna meet you...!!

  • Is this song about immigration?

  • Wow, no, I don't think so!

  • I'm not saying this band is fascist or racist or anything. I'm only asking a question.

  • "Immigration? No way! Think it tells you more about the people who think that than about the song itself. It's a grotesque fantasy about an unwelcome visitor - inspired by the visit of a drunken relative - but not about 'foreigners' or anything like that."

  • oh my god! another one of my favorites! thank you nicck!

  • Hmmm... I don't believe this band has anything to do with THE WAKE, an American goth band of the 'Christine' and 'Nazarene' fame???

Too many bands use the same names and it's becoming really confusing, not to mention annoying!

  • Well, this is the first Wake! In America though the album sleeves would say "The Wake UK", because of the goth band.

  • been looking for this song and plastic flowers for a long time now. can anyone help? thanks.

  • Plastic flowers is up! quite a nifty cover has been recorded too on here

  • On where?

  • On youtube...it's a little live performance.

  • me gusta ... muy buen sonidox

    ZONICO!!!

  • wooooooooooo!

  • an amazing pop song, cant believe people didnt catch on!

  • Ah it will! If anything more and more people are discovering the Wake nowadays.

  • i love u for saying that, i just recently found it

  • I know, we will never know why the masses choose what they choose. this should be way popular

  • I love this song! I want the lyrics too! pleaaase

  • it sure is a brilliant pop song, if you dont like it after the first 20 secs then you wont ever like it.

The guitar solo quicky bit near the end that mirrors the melody of the earlier vocal.....the synthy bells, the vocal mix at the end....just fantastic.

Anyone post the lyrics?? I have always wanted to sing along, but just cant decipher!

  • I don't have the lyrics myself sadly. a lot of lyrics have been posted onto song meanings by me from a lyrics sheet that came with my here comes everybody LP.

Alternatively I could maybe get in touch with Caeser and ask him for the lyrics, but I'm not sure...

  • Check your inbox! :]

  • one of the best pop songs ive ever heard.
