hello marianne. jay here, chief bottle washer ,soundman and problem solver. it is a shame the sound isn't as loud as it could be. i mixed this show as well as countless other live and broadcast shows. really enjoyed my 3 years with these guys! all great folks and all taught me quite a bit. anyway to marianne or anyone else that might wanna reminisce you can find me on face book - Bigdaddy Slug. always enjoy my chats with jan though it's been a couple months. i do have some pdb pics up on fb.
The volume is too low on this video, which is a shame, because it's a beautiful song, and a good live rendering of it.
I recall reviewing the EP or LP, from whence this song came, back in my days as a music journalist.
This song is very Lou Reed-ish, has a pretty "Pale Blue Eyes"-Velvets feel to it.
If you know that song, Reed, and The VU, you know what I mean. And if you don't, then it makes no never-mind, and just enjoy this tune on its own merits.
Yeah, Peter broke off from LaPeste to do surf-punk kind of music. The Peter Dayton Band was very slick but like most Boston bands, just couldn't get national attention!
For quite some time my life revolved around this band! I was married to the bass player...
I think Peter Dayton was or is one of the more exceptional people to have come out of the Boston music scene. Great song writer.I confess after LaPeste I thought this band was kind of fluffy, but enjoyed them very much at the same time. Steve the drummer, met and married one of my nurses from Beth Isreal while I was incarcerated, awaiting the birth of twins! Peter Dayton is a very successful artist now.
Synth player is Willie Cooper, now in San Fran and very much alive...I might be seeing him in June, Peter Has a CD of his oldies out...with his own cover art...the sound is tamer than the live acts but good collection...most underrated band of 80's, Peter is/was great songwriter
The keyboard player, Dyune Huntington, died some years ago - he was a good friend. I used to hang out with Peter & the band. Amazing to see this. I had such cool friends? seems hard to believe. Steve, the drummer... where are you? Is Kitty still around? Sharon & Kathy are. Sharon looks amazing. EMAIL ME, PLEASE!!!
Steve Rabbit the first drummer...quit the band a few days before they opened for the Cars at Boston Garden...because...he said, the band wasn't going anywhere...he clearly had problems, and shot himself in the head and died. Steve Founds the second PDB drummer married Sandy, my Beth Isreal maternity nurse, who he met in the OB recovery room! They have two kids and I forget now, I want to say they are in Pa.
Hi Jan! It's Martin Olive...my son Cooper was just up for a visit and he mentioned that Uncle Peter was on YouTube. Lots of memories here! Glad to hear the twins are doing well. Whitney is 24 now and Coop is 21....time does fly. Love to hear more from you! And best to Marianne as well!
Martin Olive! I've often wondered what happened to you! I did peek at pics of both Coop and Whitney on myspace...they seem to be doing well, remarkable how fast the time went! One of my favorite photos of Pete the boys and I was from your Rose Garden Polyester Party, what fun! See if you can find me at Janlong@myspace lots of photos of the kids! Really nice to hear from you!
@nannyjanny Hi! I used to share an apartment with Peter Collins in Newyork. Can you put me in touch with him? I have not seen him since 1980 when he came out to California with this band. Please let me know, Thank you, Charles
Hi Charles, I remember meeting you a few times back then. I'm sure Pete would be happy to hear from you. He recently got on facebook, If you look him up there, I don't think he has an icon photo...and it will say he's married to Katherine Downing. If your not a FB guy, then I'm sure you can look him up, he lives in South Boston, if that doesn't work, let me know, and I'll give him a call.
@TinaVolume Thank you for responding. I will try and find him on FB. I am on FB under the name Charles Forssi. I have not talked to him in almost 30 years. I remember him telling me he had two daughters. They must be grownup now. If you see him, let him know I am looking. Thank you again, Charles

Wasn't Peter originally in LaPeste? I seem to remember seeing him in LaPeste. "Stuck on the Same Refrain" was a great song.

My favorite song in college, Peter Dayton was an icon, along with Lou Miami, SSD, Classic Ruins.

I've been looking for this ever since I caught their live set at The Rat sometime in 1980/81!
A superb performance of a great song by an unfortunately obscure short lived Boston band.
Many thanks.
