  • Did you read the verse where Elijah was testing the prophets of Baal, and said,"If baal is real, then he will light his offering,if my God is real,He will light His offering"Something along those lines, and he did,and baal's offering was not lit.

  • ..so Jesus doesnt count huh..pfft

  • This story contains a lot of help for us... if we look closely.

  • I'm just now seeing this, thanks for the reply.

I think that these days God has largely left man to his own devices, and is pretty well done with any major scale interference. I think the story you read was an account of a man cleverly avoiding the wrath of a town, but and I wouldn't expect the all-powerful God of the bible to be overly concerned with what every individual on this planet thinks of him, and as a result, I don't think God's pride is very often hurt by our petty squabbles on him.

  • NERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL

Let your God defend himself but our God needs help.

    HYPO-CHRISTIANITY

  • our God? Do you include yourself as one who believes in God. I had not caught that from your posts on other sights where you were just curious "TheReasonWhyGuy". Your still so obsessive!

  • "our God"

It was used in reference to the video, as from the perspective of who I was referring to.

    "Your still so obsessive! "

How am I obsessive, I'm not the one following your every post.

I'm sorry that I feel I have the same rights that others do to voice my opinion.

    "who believes in God"

Honestly, I don't believe in God, but that doesn't mean I can't use the concept in a poetic and imaginative way. It is entirely possible God exists, I have never claimed knowledge on the matter.

  • Pretty much my whole point in this video is this:

Why should I believe in God when everything good I've ever seen attibuted to the action of God can be accounted for by chance event, or by human action? I believe in the power of humans to achive great things on their own but why attribute any of this greatness to an unseen and unknown power?

    Thanks for the reply!

  • 1. Not necessarily ALL cases. But at least one :)

    2. I don't see what this has to do with God speaking for himself.

    3. If I remember my Sunday School, it was supposed to be a historical book. Is this what you mean?

    4. Fine, but how would you distinguish a Christian working on their own from one working though the power of God? I think there is no distinction.

    5. Ok...

  • Well... my thoughts on this. It's certainly a valid point if it's presented properly. But there's also a lot to take into consideration. Let me just list some things.

    1. Are you saying that because Baal was asked to defend himself in this one case, that Jehovah should be asked to defend himself in ALL cases?

    2. Times have changed quite a bit since that time... (we're under a New Covenant, and under Grace)

    3. What kind of literature is the book of Judges, and what style is it written in?

  • 4. Christians, in this time, are temples for the Holy Spirit who is living inside of us. Working through Christians is one of the many ways Jehovah accomplishes his will.

    5. God encourages Christians to seek his blessings and to commune with him and partake of his work here in this life - it's like an amazing blessing.

    6. Under the New Covenant, we are to leave the judging to God. He does not give us laws for judging other peoples like he did with the nation of Israel.

    Peace!
