I played the Ninja Elf. The costume I had to wear was like an oven when I was jumping around doing all those flips for each shot, plus they had a fog machine going so it was a lot of hard work but it was fun. It was also exciting to call my family and tell them, 'turn to the MTV channel! I'm on!!' :)

Ummm, it's a little hard to compare Lee's fights to these, because the cinematographer was different. I believe Lee's fight scenes were shot at 22 frames per second, so it sped them up just a tad bit but not drastically, giving it that ultra-fast look. Norris's fights are regular 24 fps, but I'm not sure if the putting the guard down thing is part of his character or not, since I don't know if they're from the same movie. What do you think?

Well, the cinematographer's shot composition makes it look a certain style, but I think the reason why this one seems slower is because of the editing. The cuts aren't quick and jumpy like other fights, so it gives us more time to focus on details of the scene, whereas fast cuts is like a visual barrage and we recieve just enough information in the scene to get it. Most fight choreographers work a fight scene in 'blocks', or stages. I think we can see some of the blocks, that may be why.

Yeah, safety is also a big part. There's so many things on set that you could crash into like lights, stands, mirrorboards, etc. that would really hurt if they fell down on you! But for that shot specifically at 1:40, I would have split that into two shots instead of one, and cut on the throw. Cut on a closeup right as he grabs him, and then on a wide shot a few frames into the start of the throw. That way, you cut out all the waiting in between.
