Those Bears became th??????? bears. until briefly until 2001, then 2004.They were useless with their pro bowl center one year since Kordell can not take a snap. Or throw a pass. Everything else was fine.
I cannot believe in 20 years the Metrodome in Minneapolis has not seen drastic improvements. I'm not a proponent of new stadiums by any means, but the Metrodome is certainly one that needs replacing in the worst way (IMO)
Tool . . . it wasn't a scheduling quirk . . . the fifth-place teams in the divisions from one season would play each other the following year in a home-and-home back in the late 70s through 80s . . . this is when there were 28 teams . . . you are very detailed though, good stuff.
It's fun to see the highlights from the 89 Packers. We've won Super Bowls up here (obviously) and we've had greats like the Lambeau teams, Lombardi teams, Brett Favre, and of course todays Packer team, but people up here still talk about the 1989 team. The Packers hadn't won anything in for years at that point and they won 4 1-point games that season and missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. Fun stuff.
Due to a rare scheduling quirk, the Packers and Cowboys played TWICE in '89 even though not in the same division. The Pack beat them both times as the Cowboys had a 1-15 season. Of course the Rocket Booster known as the Herschel Walker trade would break Walker into FIVE starters for the Cowboys and they would consistently beat the Pack (and 49ers) in the playoffs fairly soon. Of course once the booster faded away, the Cowboys have been 2-7 in the playoffs the last decade and a half.
Just think: it's been more than a decade since the scores and highlights were presented this way on CBS' NFL broadcasts, and it's all full-screen these days.
These were the "DAYS" CBS doing the NFC games, the way it "SHOULD" be(LOL)!!!

42-35 in a Bears game? In 1989? At least Sanders did well that Sunday for the Lions

@cr3861
1989 was the year the Bears opened at 4-0 and then finished the season at 6-10 missing the playoffs for the first time since the 83 season.

This was really cool. Brent always was a real pro. He and Irv worked well together with these highlight packages.
