That traction on the E55 is amazing, it even had the corvette at the begging. Obviously, a z06 vs a E55 isn't very fair considering what each car is, but the Mercedes is bigger, has more trunk space, has 5 seats, is better built(all european car are) has a nicer interior and just barely looses to a z06 in a quarter mile, quite impressive.

Hey cream puff look at the rears on the e55 .35s-.49s hes runnin drag radials and the e55 most likely has a tune and pullies with headers and exhaust. That z06 in all honestly really doesn't have that many mods to pull that time off.
Vette was bad I must have bumped my head a 10s car is bad now? It probly only has bolt ons and slicks fail to see how a 10s run with a small block pushrod motor is bad? Benz a sleeper please its a 12s car with a tune pulley and most likely headers and it has drag radials. Its slow I work for benz and seen stock ones run 12.5-12.7 all day and after the mods I listed the cars usless unless you can afford to drop 20K into the junker.

And yes...a daily driver with four doors, quiet leather interior and a smooth ride that runs a 12.02 @ 116 mph...that is a sleeper. And especially cause it will do that "all day". Also to compare a 12.02 with a 12.07 in just ignorant. Thats a huge difference. That benz almost hit high 11's....that is impressive.
Don't know what 211 body you've ever driven in but they are garbage, suspension failures/noises airbag failures in rear airbags thrust are bushings lower ball joints, the ride is no better than a mustang you feel everything in the road and hear everything as say windnoise. Seats are very hard and uncomfortable climate control blows duo valve failures all the time. All day modded, the coolant pump for blower will fail they love to heat soak.

The 211 e-class chassis was the worst e series benz ever made why do you think anyone can afford them now they have problems with every system thats in that car most ring, airmatic, fuel tank and senders, suspension, blower clutch failures, climate control, SBC system, oil leaks from valve covers and trans connector, cat recalls terrible benz
That e55 is faster than the current e63 model and its mod freindly unlike the 6.3L. As for the sl65 yea it would've been closer but benz engineers only traped a best of 10.75s run with it. I work for benz and a bolt on z06 will ass rape a sl65 everytime for a fraction of the cost of that garbage 65 in drag racing and murder it on a road course. Then you've got the zr1 thats more comparable to the 65 (boosted) otherwise it shoulda been the SL6.3 thats like a zo6 but alot slower.
@The2001cobra I respect all cars, but i think people that base things on drag races should really look at the overall performance. For instance Jeremy Clarkson, a world renowned car enthusiast/reviewer made a comparison between the Z01 and an Audi R8 V10. He did a bunch of tests between the two of them, ofcourse the Z01 won in drag races but in the handling it was wiped clean off the slate by the audi. that to me matters and im not interested in cars that only go fast in straight lines.
Dont know what a z01 is but if its a zo6 or zr1 your referring to they where not developed to go in straight lines they are track (road race application) vehicles. I don't care for editor choices as 99.9% of them are being paid off by a manufacturer all I care for is what ive seen in life and experienced. The whole thing about american cars not handling from mustangs to vetts is false. Ive seen more mustangs and vetts dominate there classes than anyother make/model.
And 95% of the mustangs are using a modified SLA with a 5 link setup. As far as real world results look at the leaders in Nurburgring times a real track test. Viper ACR 7:12 and vet zo6 7:22 vet zr1 7:19 no other massed produced vehicles have made it into the 7:teens timeframe. A lexus LFA nurmburgring edition that costs 500K and was tuned to that ring for 3 years with an engineer death isn't considered massed produced.
Don't know where people come up with these false facts about american cars not handling. Its quite funny go to any sanctioned event and you'll see domestics dominating been there and done it in my 01 cobra. The only import that is massed produced and affordable to the public that comes close is the porsche gt2 rs or for that matter any porsche is fairly track ready. That audi r8 v10 ran a 7:44 at nurmburg the new camaro zl1 and shelby cobra (2013) will destroy it mark my words.

If you think a leather wrapped interior with alcantara accents makes for a better built car than I am sorry to tell you your mislead on quality. The BMW's BENZ's AUDI's VW's PORSCHE's combined sales are around 800k units take Ford alone for example are almost at 1.8 million units sold in the states alone. The problem ratio per vehicle of BMW's BENZ's AUDI's PORSHE'S and VW's is far worse than FORD GM TOYOTA each selling over 1 million units a year.
I'd dread to see BENZ BMW AUDI etc. etc. problems if they sold 1+million units alone here. Look what happened to Toyota when they caught up to GM and FORD in sales. They had to cut back production and they are currently 600+k units behind GM and FORD right now to try do redeem there quality. Im am personally glad you have had luck with the Euro cars since I work with Benz. However after working around Domestic and Imports all my life I have to say Domestics have been far more reliable than imports. I very seldom see a 200k+ mile euro or asian import the domestic groups ive see thousands 200k+ cars.

Getting from private seller, son suggested buying private extended warranty which I likely will. seller replaced alternator..cost him a grand..yikes!! any suggestion as to where to look for extended warranty? ELW or star warrenty if mileage is lower. Your trans connector is gonna leak,valve covers will leak, you race the thing your rear subframe bolts will break, your fuel sender will leak and the new thing thats starting to leak is the fuel tank, a plug on top between the saddles. Then you will have a supercharger clutch failure sooner or later will become noisey. Theres recalls with the cats and your audio gateway will fail along with the climate duovalve you'll have heat with no air.
Its not worth it Ive been working for benz for 6 years now and I would never advise a freind to buy one of those its a money pit with or without an ELW.Your rear air bags will leak your keyless go door handles will fail. Please consider something else unless your just going to use it as a driver or if you have lots of spare cash lying around.Ball joints will go thrust arm bushings will leak etc etc I can go on all day with the 211 chassis better off with an older 210 e55 more reliable

Bad comparison in my opinion, they should have raced the SL65 AMG against the Z06 to be more fair, the mercedes is even an old model.

Getting from private seller, son suggested buying private extended warranty which I likely will. seller replaced alternator..cost him a grand..yikes!! any suggestion as to where to look for extended warranty? I see an ad on tv all the time but... friend used to work in dealership and is tight with the master tech tree so most work will be done by that guy.

ELW or star warrenty if mileage is lower. Your trans connector is gonna leak,valve covers will leak, you race the thing your rear subframe bolts will break, your fuel sender will leak and the new thing thats starting to leak is the fuel tank, a plug on top between the saddles. Then you will have a supercharger clutch failure sooner or later will become noisey. Theres recalls with the cats and your audio gateway will fail along with the climate duovalve you'll have heat with no air.

Its not worth it Ive been working for benz for 6 years now and I would never advise a freind to buy one of those its a money pit with or without an ELW.Your rear air bags will leak your keyless go door handles will fail. Please consider something else unless your just going to use it as a driver or if you have lots of spare cash lying around.Ball joints will go thrust arm bushings will leak etc etc I can go on all day with the 211 chassis better off with an older 210 e55 more reliable

@08turboSS ur TRIPPIN! not more than 5K in parts! basic bolt ons and good tires will give u easy 10s..stock it does 11s -_- headers, cam, intake, cat less, a good tune and ur gonna run 10s allll day with good tires as you can see perfectly from the burnout, the rear tires look very sticky

They are so bigotted that they can't acknowledge that the Benz has a huge disadvantage as it is built to carry 4 and is 1000lbs heavier and was never built to be an outright sports car but rather a luxury high performance saloon.

I am doing 11.5 on Pirelly tyres... easily... and I only upgraded the Chip, pulley and exhaust, I still need to put a CF airbox, upgrade oil pump, water pump, and intercooler from rentech...
