One temporary solution until you get the platen rubber replaced is to put about 3 sheets of paper into the machine so you have extra cushioning. Hope this helps!!
That appears to have been made by the Japanese company Brother. They made many other machines that were mechanically similar, like the Opus and Majestic machines.
Typewriters will last many years, and you shouldn't worry about using it. That's what they're there for.
I got a 1946 vintage royal and it is in great condition and works perfect i just put new ribbons in. It's alot more anticy looking then that. I also got a broken lettera 32 im trying to fix.

The company »KUKA« ( = Keller & Knappich in Augsburg ) was founded in
1898 in Augsburg, Germany. In 1905 the production of welding equipment
for the metal industry began. After WWII components for public trans-
portation vehicles and portable typewriters were made. This nice, flat
» PRINCESS-300 « was one of the most functional portables available.
Today »KUKA« is world-leader in PC-controlled industry robots.

The Ames Supply Company can replace the rubber on your platen (if you're handy enough to get the platen on and off the machine.)
