Just like that old woman said, she is selling her persian after only 4 months for another kitten. I don't really like cat breeders. They try to sell their ugly cats for insane amounts of money. When they can't sell them, they dump them. This is why a lot of rescue shelters don't take in cats from breeders.

I agree. I used to breed Persians and my cats are always in perfect health and groomed every day. Long haired cats have to be brushed and most don't mind it at all. Most cats are also not scared by shows - just as most people aren't.

So precioustange, are you suggesting that we don;t feed them, groom them, look afte rtheir health needs?

Both dog and cat shows are very cruel. But unfortunately neither the sellers nor the buyer think twice about how miserable these poor innocent animals feel their tiny cages for hours and hourse and hours. How about putting pple inside tiny cages too - would they like that?

@precioustange I agree with you. Its because most of the people (I can't say ALL the people) think they are superior and their life is worth more than the rest of the animals. What happens when you kill an animal? Nothing, there are even sports that promote the animal hunting (fishing, deer hunting, etc.) What happens when you kill a human? @precioustange ohh please i am a vegetarian and I show persian cats and poultry and they are fine, the cats( usually) are very spoiled and loved immensely by there owners, the cats are taught from a young age not to be scared of people and they are fine, if a cat is upset or stressed they are not judged and are sent home. and they love brushing, they do it naturally against logs, trees etc and brushing is essential to avoid matting of the hair which almost always leads to skin irritation!

Ow come on, these cats can usually just hang around at their owners' and have their free meals every day for doing nothing. So I think they'll manage the little while in the spot lights. Life isn't always easy for any species in life, especially for humans who have the intelligence to realize every bad things happening around them. And these cat shows are really just one of the smallest acts of cruelty to animals.

@precioustange These cats at cat shows are NOT cruely treated. Just look at that beautiful persian, yeah he looks SO frightened. Obviously you have no clue what goes into grooming alot of these cats, especially the long haired breeds. You need to groom them multiple times a week and with persians you have to keep their eyes clear or they could develop hot spots and that is a whole problem you don't want. Try to read up on shows like this before you comment.

People don't put animals in shows for their ego. They put cats in shows not only they think their cat is beautiful, they want to see other cats as well.
