These guys were so awesome! I never liked them before i saw them live, they opened up for some other band but they were so good i dont remember which band it was they opened up for lol..... this was the first song they played too
met these guys at a show in Calgary one time...they were unloading their gear and we paid them 20 bucks to put us on their guest list so we could see the show...nice guys for sure
I remember watching this music video as a child on Much Music during the month of February, but being too young to understand what genius I was witnessing.
Canadians are so talented compared to Americans, with a population less than twice that of New York City, it's amazing the talent that comes out of there.
@crankim20 correction - a population 4 times of new york city... and Canada has laws that require a % of Canadian content in broadcasting, thus, allowing smaller artists an opportunity to be seen by a larger audience without the backing of international labels. I'm certain that the talent found in any American town/city would match that of a Canadian town/city - but - just don't get the soap box to stand on to be heard.
@akcasama Don't forget an indy Canadian act can pretty much getting funding to record an album that can match any major label's output. If memory serves correct you can get up to 50% of the cost? Which is pretty good conisidering having an album mastered costs like 30 grand.
@Turpin77 I've heard several claims witth regards to its meaning. I've read suggestions that it's about urban decay, or white flight, and that supposedly in an interview Sebastien and Jesse said it was just a collection of childhood memories with no real theme. I've no idea which is correct.
Is that part that starts at 2:07 in 4/4? The rhythm doesn't sound even, it sounds to me like it alternates between 3/4 and 4/4 maybe? Anyone have any insight into this?
@N0rmad Yeah, it's in 4/4 and stays in common time throughout. They switch to playing consistent eighth notes instead of outlining everything with the quarter note beat. What makes it sound inconsistent is that the synth (? the higher long pitches) that's added at that point doesn't always change in time with the music. The reverb from the cymbals also gives that feeling as well.
i just looked up dilatant for my revision and it came up with an urban dictionary link, so ever the procrastinator i read it and it brought me here. clearly revisions not all bad lol
Nice tune, though I do enjoy the metric cover a little more. I think its just her voice.
