Blame people who demand the lowest price without thinking of all economics aspects not just their own. Most consumers are equally as accountable as the elected officials that create policies that allow legal protection of people who successfully distort any attempt to ensure everyone pays their fair share of taxes, but somehow only few prosper. Who is the closer to the overall truth? Pro Business, Pro Labor, or both depending on the details?
Last time I looked, Wal-Mart had the same products as everyone else. So if Wal-Mart imports 70% of its products from China, then everyone else in America must be importing 70% of everything from China, too. Either that, or suppliers have to set up two factories- one in Chine exclusively for Wal-Mart, and one in America for everyone else. Which one makes more sense?
Wal mart here sucks ass! Not enough cashiers, way too many stupid mexicans, dirty parking lots, products on the shelves sealed with packaging tape. Not enogh packaging tape on the shelves. just crappy all the way around
The ones here are complete and utter assholes. Some white people like myself speak Spanish. They will stand there and talk shit about you and your family right next to you. My wife even heard one plotting to robb us once we got in the parking lot! And yes many Mexicans are dirty, it is their fault, if you are illegal you should be shot on site
Doing what? dumping garbage in nice neighbohoods? Bringing drug wars across borders? Taking advantage of a flawed welfare system? They days of the hard working Mexican just trying to take care of his family is now just a ridiculous old- fashioned stereotype that mexicans keep telling themselves to feel better.
That's the problem. If everyone in America didn't buy from Walmart in one month, that would put millions into AMERICAN pockets...which would allow AMERICA to lower prices...while NOT HELPING OTHER COUNTRIES
the problem is, people just wont do it. Especially lower income families, its like Freaking crack, and theres no way to quit, unless wal mart leaves, and it never will, i just wish it would be split up, liike microsoft. Its such a lie to the world, and will probably play at the end of it.
So what? Who cares if we're sending money to China. Chinese people are people, too. They need money, they need jobs. And marginally speaking (as an economist would say), they need it more than we do. And those anti-trade Democrats say Republicans are nationalistic? ... OK, well they are, but it seems a bit hypocritical. Goddamn.
Who cares that people send money to China? Perhaps the people that have sick or dead children due to lack of quality assurance of products. Frankly the only way to vote now is with your dollar. So if you want China to shape up on quality, stop buying crap that says made in China.
I cashed my check at walmart but that doesnt mean I'm going to use it there. Who is going to be stupid to cash their rebate checks somewhere else where they charge you like 20 or more dollars to cash it! Great for China or not, im still going to continue shopping there like always, cuz its GREAT for me!
wait, walmart is to blame for china making goods for us? Since when does walmart produce one single good? UH, dump ad people, walmart is a reseller, a retail store. They make nothing.
Wake up man. Wal-Mart may not actually produce a single product, but their influence/demands for lower and lower prices from it's suppliers forces the suppliers to produce overseas, namely in China.
Google search Pillowtex and Wal-mart for one example.
Wal-mart starts doing business with a company. Then buys more and more from them, demanding more production if the supplier wants to keep doing business with Wal-Mart. Then once they've become the suppliers ONLY customer, they start putting the strangle-hold on the supplier to drop the price, drop the price, drop the price. When the supplier finally says, "We can't go any lower.", Wal-Mart says, "You should consider producing in China." Then 4,000 americans lose their jobs.........
and the ironic part of the whole story is that 3,999 of the displaced workers are shopping at Wal-Mart the next day. Unbelievable.
It is a vicious cycle of greed that is the root of the whole thing. Greed from the supplier to make more money, so they get in bed with Wal-Mart. Greed from Wal-Mart to pinch every last penny out of their suppliers so that they can satisfy their stockholders.....

So you would rather have the work done in the USA, where every highschool drop out can work for a union factory, making $50/hr doing nothing. Then my toothpaste costs $20 a tube and the entire country grinds to a hault. Welcome to capatolism. The money from walmart sales stays in the USA. The best thing, is they are getting bigger and bigger, welcome to the American dream. If you don't like walmart, don't shop there, simple as that, but to bitch about it is a waste of time.
WOW what factory is paying line workers $50/hr??? I'm going to quit my job as a nurse & go work there.... c'mon, man. Get real. They make like $12/hr, w/ shitty benefits.
If the United States completely stops manufacturing things we need renewed on a daily basis we'll be at the mercy of those who are manufactering/supplying them. Like China & India.
Your right about Walmart money staying in the U.S., but it's in the pockets of the Executives, not yours (unless you're one of them) and mine.
At first I was glad that you're defending capitalism, but then I realized that you're not a defender of capitalism, but rather, "capatolism." Well safe to say I got really disappointed.
4) Set up our military in Iraq which is across from Iran. We borrow money and threaten not to pay it back unless they back us up. John Mccain will be pushed into finish what Bush started =TARGET = IRAN. GET IT???
none of this matters anymore..the economic shock has been delivered to America and there is no turning back..soon it will be just another country like Poland,Russia,Chile,Argentina,etc..where the middleclass was dismantled and is virtually none existent..all thanks mostly to the good ole boys from the University of Chicago.
Wait to go but you're wrong on your figures is not of products made in china more like 90 percent Wal-Mart is the biggest American rip off since George Bush one and to nothing but a big fat lie.
