Also, although China is growing in regard to economy, population, etc., it is extremely far behind in some fields of science.

Sure you can point out a couple of strong aspects of China but you haven't considered other factors that could very well hurt their chances of "dominating" and achieving their "rightful place in the world".

In fact, Hu Jintao has on multiple occasions emphasized cooperation between the West in the East (if anything he is taking a passive approach to Westernization/becoming a key player in world politics/economy). There is a difference between (passive) competition and belligerence, and anyone who believes China will retaliate against the West is severely misguided.
