Loved him at the beginning of the series, but by the end of Confessor I was really pissed off at Terry Goodkind. I don't want to give anything away, but the way all the problems were solved made every other victory or loss inconsequential, just boom and everything is over in a few pages. The phantom military tactics didn't matter, all the war waging parts didn't matter, nothing. Very anticlimactic. And this is from the guy who dissed other authors for solving issues with magic.
Everything after "Faith of the Fallen" is one big shit for you in the name to test you. Some stupid fans having Goodkind for some kind of God, an Ultimate Leader, a Boss, which is terribly bad. And because of that, everything after "Faith of the Fallen" is a shit to test you are you will consider that and find actually the right end of the story. Goodkind is not important here - you are the important one.
I wish the books past Wizards first rule were as good a read as this man seems a genuinely good and very likalbe guy. If only they were as good a read as this man is interesting, i find him speaking about these books is far more compelling than his writing skill, hes a great storyteller, he just lacks some tools to make the language flow better and make it rise more above "fanfiction"
This fantasy epic is a great gift for worldwide millions of fans I love the whole story - for me it could go on an on - thank you Terry for giving us Richard and Kahlan
it's all too obvious that the books are only meant for him. The characters all sound like him... every single one, once they start talking "philosophically." The philosophy isn't too mind boggling, but tired concepts that are talked to death in real life... we all know you support the war Terry.
these are extremely repetitive books that could be told in half the time.
The characters fall flat... I don't think goodkind has ever talked to a child.
His children characters are totally unbelievable, as are most the characters. This has nothing to do with the fanciful backdrop of the story, but being an actor with words.
the concept is cool... and it could be so much better.
I know he likes to resolve his books... but they end with a cotton candy feel... which feels like a t.v. disney movie.
everything you said about goodkinds books is fucking true. he should have just written a book of philosophy. his books are so repetitive. and yes we get it, richard and khalan REALLY love each other and are REALLY good people. i think when your 5 or 6 books in, you know the back story pretty well and dont need to be reminded constantly. plot wise its always the same, they must betray each other to save each other or their powers disappear etc, robin hobb leaves goodkind for dead
@bananafence Although I do agree that it gets annoying how he tells the backstory a lot during books and tells us things we already knew, but this is because some people just see a book they think might be good and start reading it. So he is giving them a little bit of the back story so they will be able to read it and still know what is happening.
how in the world can you say he looks wierd? i think he looks fine lol. i am almost done with the series. i don't want it to end. it's epic. best series i've read thus far.
He's just ....very intense looking? His eyes always seem half closed and he has a very long face. Maybe the mustache too. >_> Put it on pause and look at him in random shots. He needs a little black beret or something. :3
Thank you Terry Goodkind for introducing me to a whole new world, what a fantastic adventure. The series will forever be a part of me.

These are the best books I have ever read. Great story, characters, and morals. Terry Goodkind created an epic that will be remembered forever.

All in all... the writing is bland, and not thoroughly thought out. The books are bland in comparison to GRRM.
There is usually about 1 or 2 good chapters out of 50-60... the rest seem to reiterate the previous books over and over and over and over...

@Jayk1985 The children are sort of believable if you assume that all kids in his world are genius level. :P
