I was a teen-ager when Mario came on the scene. It is so nice that the younger generation can hear some very talented, gone, but not forgotten. I fell in love when Mario first sang "Be My Love". thank you so much for the postings. He has always been my favorite male singer.

Mario Lanza died on my birthday. I was in the Army that year and when I heard of his death I cried, and I went right to the post library at Fort Lewis, WN, pulled out an LP - it might have been "The Student Prince" - which I also had at home, and played it right there in the library.

Years later, I was in a stage production of "The Student Prince" - Summer Opera of Wash.,DC. - 1995. During rehearsals and the production itself,in which Raymond Very sang Karl I thought many times of Mario Lanza.

Mario Lanza has always been the standard for me to compare others. No one comes close. I fell in love with him as a teen-ager in the fifties and still believe that he is the greatest.

I've enjoyed Mario Lanza for 53 years! He died the same year I got out of the Navy (1959) Best tenor that ever was!!!!
