Ive had one of those for a cheap buck. and i worked brilliantly. in fact I used it so much eventually broke and i bought another one. Sure you can do the same thing with a knife. but i wouldn't say its a bad product. Anyone who compares a commercial with reality and expect a identical perfect result is an idiot. And if peeling an onion is the worst part. Don´t chop it.

1. Cut the root off of the onion and/ or cut it vertically before chopping! The way it was demonstrated in the video was unfair. The amount of carrots in the sleeve--too much-- was also unfair. Also the slow, lazy hit was also unfair. I have another good brand of food chopper and I have never tried the slap chop but that was review was ridiculous. The product was not even given a fair chance.

I'm not saying this thing doesn't work as advertised BUT I found it east to spot 2 key flaws in this review.

1. Vince slaps it properly with a quick withdraw, which should prevent the food from having a chance to stick to the blades.

2. it's a small gadget so I would only expect for it to work smoothly with smaller ingredients like in the infomercial.

ah, you guys see that is the genius of the marketing behind slap chop and the magic bullet, they use tiny veggies for the most part. Where as you, and the rest of us will most likely use the full sized versions 99% of the time. so unless you want to use cherry tomatos in all of your meals then they won't work

SlapChop has evidently paid a bunch of shills to dog this review. Well, the review is correct. My wife has one of these things, and it works much better on TV than it does in our kitchen. Even if it worked as advertised (ours doesn't) it can't replace a proper chef's knife and a little practice. The SlapChop pieces will always be uneven, from particles to chunks. With a proper knife and knife skills, you really can get a fast, uniform cut. There's a reason you don't see this in pro kitchens.

This review by consumer reports is right on!!! The only thing that I have found my Slap Chop to be useful for is dicing up eggs and thats about it. Anything with any bulk to it gets caught in the blades no matter how quickly I slap it. When I need to do any serious dicing/chopping/etc I make sure to leave my Slap Chop in the cabinet and pull out my food processor instead!

You can buy a thing just like the slap chop at walmart or any store for cheap! No need to buy a 20.00 one. They work just as well. I have one so my young son who likes to help in the kitchen, but is too young to really use a knife well, can use this to chop onions and peppers.
