The Islamic threat constituted Saddam Hussein possessing WMDs, and was a regional threat to US allies and oil reserves. Obviously this wasn't the case, the blame largely lies on faulty intelligence (some fuck-ups in the CIA) and politicians jumping on it for fear of of appearing 'unpatriotic' after the events of 9/11. Still, the Iraq War was correctly initiated with the best (but wrong) intelligence at its time, and hindsight is always very easy.

@n0s1r I'm not sure what you're saying. When I was talking about hindsight, I was referring to the presence of WMDs in Iraq, and it wasn't until after we invaded and destroyed the government that we went 'Oops, guess they didn't have WMDs after all.'
