I can see why Tammy calls this her theme song. She lived a lot in her life. I have always loved this song - and I feel Sammi and Tammy both are fabulous with this classic. However, I heard Sammi's version first so hers is my favorite. I like to hear Sammi sing "lay down by my side", which is good country. Whether it's right or wrong as the song says, sometimes a friend to help make it through the night is truly important. The pictures are great. Thank you for posting. - Paula
I liked Tammy's version better too. It did have more soul, feeling, and the musical arrangement was soo soo much better. I also liked her version of Sammi Smith's "For The Kids" better too...Tammy put her own feelings into the song, and what was going on in her life with George Hones at the time
Great, except it kinda goes pear-shaped towards th end.

Tammy could sing the dictionary, phonebook, and the cook book she wrote and still sound good...I like this version...but I love Tammy, always will!!!
