No nitrogen, typical goodman hack job, bet that txv is gonna love all the carbon crap in those pipes..... read manufacturers specs for silfossing the joints, everyone will say flow nitro while brazing.
replacement of a/c's is a ART FORM. EVERYBODY does it differnt. the steps that WE? all take, depends were you live, how you were taught? and what tools you have. then there is the County CODES to keep in mind. how you will service it threw out its life? ETC. all in all? if we all used EVERYBODYS SPECIAL tips? lol
we'd be at the home for HOURS!!! so find your way! and be a PRO. brian in florida thanks.
It would be wise to place a damp rag on that suction pipe to protect the house and possible paper or flammables in that wall as you braze. It would be a good idea to inform that the brazing material will follow the heat and to apply heat back into the fitting as a final procedure. Nitrogen will assure a dry and clean inside pipe.
1) Onerecon is right, wrap the valves with a wet cloth (and keep wet the entire time)
2) You can change the tip on that torch
3) Since you're using an oxy-ace torch, may as well use silphos solder
4) Don't adjust temp, adjust heating time. If necessary, get it to temp with the light blue part of the flame, then back off to the dark blue to maintain some heat while applying the solder to the joint.
Don't forget pressure testing and triple evac procedures!
WHAT!!! no nitrogen????not enough heat sync paste!!!!Chief you cooked those valves. Ounce of prevention,,you should wrap those valves with terry cloth and soak with water. Paste will not be effective alone. Bad teacher,,bad teacher,,,no cookies for you
ur not using propane for this job why not??
