This game is so frestrating due to lag comp...i can literally see a good second of lag time in kill cams, where as in my screen im unloading half of a clip into the person that killed me....IDEALLY lag compensation should work, but iw made the host punished WAY too much...less agressive lag compensation would level the feild more. mw2 kd 2.6 mw3 kd 1.12 bops kd 1.9. clearly something isnt right.
Man internet speed is not the key here. I play it in two different places. One of them is 20 mbps and one of them is 2 mbps but there is no difference.
My exchange is being upgraded to ADSL2 at the end of this month so I can receive 17mb down/1mb up. But I'm not going to upgrade, purely so I can continue owning pricks that think Internet download speed is a measure of social status. People that say "the majority of people can receive high speed connections" are talking out their behinds. See when you do a Speedtest on your super wonderful connection and it says "FASTER THAN 95% OF THE US/UK"? Morons.

I have 10ping and 12mbps down but it wasn't a problem when I was playing on my wifi, I switched to Ethernet because too many devices on wifi and now I'm host 2/3 games and it sucks
1 more thing, Even when I'm not lagging I got used to shoot about 7 bullets and continue moving and after 2 seconds hit markers pop and THEN get the kill.
I have 512mps ping and my first 10 bullets don't count most of the time, only 1 out of 5 games am I able to play normally with any disadvantage, also my connection keeps jumping for some reason

While in a MW3 Lobby the game evaluates the average PING time in the room if it's 60 ms ping, but you have fast internet so maybe your at 10 or 20 ms ping then your going to be punished. I didn't say they are leveling the scales because that's not the case, the way they implemented "LC" was done wrong. Because the way there doing it, is that the better or person's with good internet automatically lag 1-2 seconds because players with poorer internet connection no matter ping time.
It's funny to shoot someone with a full clip and then run behind cover to reload and get a kill or better yet realize how bad it is and shoot exact amount of bullets needed and wait for them to connect the hit markers rapid fire onto the screen lol

I stopped playing CoD after Black Ops because the series is just getting worse. I trialed the multiplayer on MW3 but the Lag Compensation is fucking ridiculous. I played a very limited time online on Black Ops and I didn't realise it had Lag Compensation until now. It wasn't terrible but it still was quite bad. MW2 (Which I loathe) and CoD4 (Which I love) didn't have lag compensation so they were decent online (CoD4 more). The games are too unbalanced and noob friendly now it's made CoD shite.
I play both MW3&BF3 mostly BF3 for this exact reason. Not to mention the better gameplay overall (Multiplayer). If you have a crap connection, you shouldn't be rewarded for it. End. (-_-)

I got punished a whole lot. Would be host, and have 5 bars. Then my bullets wont register. Unload half a clip and nothing, not even an assist. IW should switch to ded servers

If you were an average player or weren't the greatest and were host, you wouldn't really see the advantage than if you joined a game and had good connection. Most of the time (Host or not), the player who got shot first dies. But this isn't the case anymore.
I pretty much always have a goo connection and as soon as i see someone they either drop me instanly or i take cover behind a wall and i die around the corner
Black Ops and MW3 overcompensate with the lag compensation. Connection was so much better in MW2. It's better for one guy (the host) having advantage than that half the lobby having disadvantage. A friend of mine has a 100/100 fibre connection with 1 ms ping. Whenever he is hosting I feel a huge disadvantage, like if I were hosting myself.
A dedicated server system would fix all of this. Maybe they should spend some of the billions of dollars they made selling this game to do this, but in reality they won't because they really don't care.

and my signal is wireless wifi in perth australia...... Which is the most isolated major city in the world! Generally all lobbys contain others from perth or indonesia. Most time my connection is the worst in lobby.

I wish that the PS3 could be as simple as the XBOX. If possible could you maybe explain the PS3 lag compensation, and host migration issues? I'm with you on hating being host because when I host I'm a good 3-5 seconds behind everyone. The migration is the best idea since my connection is so good when i'm host almost everyone gets 4 bars them it will decide to select a host which when chosen doesn't even have 4 bars of connection themselves.

I have an upgraded internet package running 30mb and im almost always host and when im not my connection is well above the others. I hate when I turn the corner hit the knife button only to watch my guy knife through him or fall dead from his bullets.

This is fucking bullshit i have a 15mb/s connection and I've bin playing since cod 2, mw1/mw2 i have 200k+ kills with 2.00+ ratio. Not the best but i know I'm better then the average player, but because of "Lag Compensation" i get punished. see i knew i wasnt crazy, but even when im not host? i notice a constant delay regardless if im host or not, ill hit the corner and the enemy player will see me before it actually registers on my screen, leaving me hopeless to defend myself, which results in me doing bad the whole game cause the same scenario keeps happening and happening

MW2 was the best, Black Ops was okay, and MW3 sucks as far as lag goes, at least in my experience. I got hit markers immediately in MW2. In 3, here I am playing hardcore, someone runs out in front of me with their back turned, I put a quick burst in them and sometimes it takes a full second after I stop firing for the hit marker to show up. Insane.

I have a bad connection of 0.76mbps down and 0.13mbps up. My bullets still take like half a second or longer to register as in MW2 and Blops, and many times I die within a split second of seeing someone come around a corner and I have no time to react, but the killcam shows them seeing me first and having more time to kill me. Also, I believe that upload speed is most important when the game picks a host. The host console is sending out data to all the other consoles.

Im a 1.7 k/d and i can't even join a lobby with friends because i will get destoryed by almost anyone because of lag compensation.. i will fire 8 shots.. and only the last 4 will count, but that will not kill him so in the end they turn around or kill me with 1-2 shots. I have to spend so much time to get 1 game without it, and i don't think ive had more then 15 of my games without lag compensation. Lag compensation is the difference between 22 and 0 and 11-11.
I think they should go back to the way it was in MW2. Everyone knew who was host and new how to kill them or avoid them when possible to still have a good game. Now its an unknown factor on who is even the host because they've blocked out access to the page that used to show you who hosted. And people with good connections are getting punished. If its really a 50/50 decision then activision should go to a dedicated server based system like EA where no matter what your connection speed everyone

The sad thing is I up graded from my old copper conection to fibre optic to make my on line play more level par and fun.

While in a MW3 Lobby the game evaluates the average PING time in the room if it's 60 ms ping, but you have fast internet so maybe your at 10 or 20 ms ping then your going to be punished. I didn't say they are leveling the scales because that's not the case, the way they implemented "LC" was done wrong. Because the way there doing it, is that the better or person's with good internet automatically lag 1-2 seconds because players with poorer internet connection no matter ping time.

I stopped playing CoD after Black Ops because the series is just getting worse. I trialed the multiplayer on MW3 but the Lag Compensation is fucking ridiculous. I played a very limited time online on Black Ops and I didn't realise it had Lag Compensation until now. It wasn't terrible but it still was quite bad. MW2 (Which I loathe) and CoD4 (Which I love) didn't have lag compensation so they were decent online (CoD4 more). The games are too unbalanced and noob friendly now it's made CoD shite.

If you were an average player or weren't the greatest and were host, you wouldn't really see the advantage than if you joined a game and had good connection. Most of the time (Host or not), the player who got shot first dies. But this isn't the case anymore.

Black Ops and MW3 overcompensate with the lag compensation. Connection was so much better in MW2. It's better for one guy (the host) having advantage than that half the lobby having disadvantage. A friend of mine has a 100/100 fibre connection with 1 ms ping. Whenever he is hosting I feel a huge disadvantage, like if I were hosting myself.

I have an upgraded internet package running 30mb and im almost always host and when im not my connection is well above the others. I hate when I turn the corner hit the knife button only to watch my guy knife through him or fall dead from his bullets.

MW2 was the best, Black Ops was okay, and MW3 sucks as far as lag goes, at least in my experience. I got hit markers immediately in MW2. In 3, here I am playing hardcore, someone runs out in front of me with their back turned, I put a quick burst in them and sometimes it takes a full second after I stop firing for the hit marker to show up. Insane.

I have a bad connection of 0.76mbps down and 0.13mbps up. My bullets still take like half a second or longer to register as in MW2 and Blops, and many times I die within a split second of seeing someone come around a corner and I have no time to react, but the killcam shows them seeing me first and having more time to kill me. Also, I believe that upload speed is most important when the game picks a host. The host console is sending out data to all the other consoles.

Ok so I took my xbox wireless adapter apart and snipped the yellow wire by accident. Guess what! It still operates normally. So what does this mysterious yellow wire do??

Im a 1.7 k/d and i can't even join a lobby with friends because i will get destoryed by almost anyone because of lag compensation.. i will fire 8 shots.. and only the last 4 will count, but that will not kill him so in the end they turn around or kill me with 1-2 shots. I have to spend so much time to get 1 game without it, and i don't think ive had more then 15 of my games without lag compensation. Lag compensation is the difference between 22 and 0 and 11-11.

I think they should go back to the way it was in MW2. Everyone knew who was host and new how to kill them or avoid them when possible to still have a good game. Now its an unknown factor on who is even the host because they've blocked out access to the page that used to show you who hosted. And people with good connections are getting punished. If its really a 50/50 decision then activision should go to a dedicated server based system like EA where no matter what your connection speed everyone

So those of you who pay lots of money for a good internet connection to obviously gain an unfair advantage over others, think that lag compensation is not fair! Do you not see the obvious flaw in your own argument there. I cant get a great internet connection where I live coz British Telecom are to busy spending all of the money upgrading everyone in the south of the damn country. I ended up going back to MW2 when Black ops came out, I can see the same thing happening again with MW3.
