WIth CGI almost everything that is generated looks flat. Watch the werewolves in the follow up, they look like shadows with bits painted in. It's like mixing cartoons with reality and the horror genre is not the place for that.

prisoner of azkaban wasnt good... the werewolf looked goofy to me. the underworld transformations were good, but this one shows soo much more detail and gives more life to the character.

Glad it exists. You won't see it again. Suits make the product now. They're trying to get as many 3D movies made now, because Avatar made money. They use CGI now for the same reason. The only way you'll see this kind of non-CGI craft come back is if Rick Baker or someone else makes something that makes LOTS of money.

sad but true. this kind of effect takes talent to do, and its a dying art. sadly, i do believe that real special effects are going the way of well written scripts and storylines: dead. that truly saddens me. this 3d bull has got to stop. how does a paddleball ball flying out of the screen make the movie any better?(using an example from monsters vs aliens). its just obnoxious.

Very true. The 3D is an excuse to charge more for the same movie.... so its here to stay. I dont mind it, provided the stories are good. But hollywood keeps remaking old TV shows like A Team, Bewitched and Get Smart. And theres a sequel to nearly everything.... or a remake. The only old TV show I really think has untapped movie potential is "Fantasy Island". For now.... I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything truly original.
