  • This thing that I will put it's a child's stupidity, but I will do it even even being it: "Anyone who puts "doesn't like", makes a bad comment, say bad things about Blind Guardian or me or about this really good fanvid, or for this comment, after me, is a g*y". And That's my law. I will not replicate any comment. Farewell.

  • This is good! I'm ery ompressed! Well done sport!

  • I can't believe this is still up after all this time. I had one up set to Queens "Spread Your Wings" but that got removed like a year ago at least.

  • dude that's profanity..

  • in the end it doesnnt really matter if Deckard is a replicant or not the message remains the same.

  • i wanna see original men

  • my friend!your video is perfect!!!!Yes!But the music...my friend....oh my GOD!Please, change it! Your scenes is crying for an another music which is....you must feel it!!!!!

  • It's not the only Blade Runner video I've done, and I only did it to challenge myself with an obviously extremely different song than the music from the movie. I did it because the song was inspired by the movie, so I had to try to put them together.

It's more the words that fit, not the music.

  • fzsolt0... How can you not notice that all of the clips are edited according to the rhythm and tone of the music, as well as the meaning of the lyrics? Putting an alternate track over this video wouldn't work, it would change the whole video and make it not synced up.

  • HARRISON FORD!

    sorry i just couldn't resist ;)

  • Having deckard be a replicant ruins the whole, More Human Than Human theme... He needs to be a human who lost his humanity then finds it because of a replicant.

Its like making everyone on battlestar galactica a freakin' Cylon.. Ruins it.

  • Harrison Ford himself said he felt Deckard had to be a human.

  • singapore 2019?

  • Not sure why my comments aren't showing up.

I wanted to say how much I love this fanvid: excellent editing -- you clearly have a great understanding of the film (and book) and of how this song's lyrics tie in with it.

And everybody needs to stop shitting on Guardian -- they've got a certain sound that's not to everyone's taste, but they're wonderful. And pretty much all of their songs are inspired by awesome stories like this one.

  • Yeah, I've been a little slack, I had the comments pending to be approved, and I forgot about this video for a while and I wasn't getting any emails telling me I had to approve comments, Lol.

Thank you for your comment, it's one of the few that actually understood what I was doing.

  • Very nicely edited -- I enjoyed it a lot. I love Blade Runner (and "Do Androids Dream...") AND Blind Guardian. I had heard this song before but never realized it was about BR. They write songs about all kinds of awesome things, you know. They have an entire album inspired by Tolkien's "Silmarillion," and a 15 minute song about the Illiad. This is actually not one of their greater songs, but I still enjoy it.

    Anyway, great work here.

  • Fucking Youtube. Reading these comments, it's like the song raped Vangelis or something. You don't like it ? Fine, watch the DVD, it's still there you know.

  • I agree completely - you have a sensible head. If people want to watch Vangelis' music with the movie... watch the perfection that the movie is! GET OFF YOUTUBE AND BUY IT YOU PANSIES! LOL

  • This music is bad for this incredible movie.

I don't like hard rock (and those who sounds familiar) anyway.

  • Had I been writing a song about Blade Runner, I would not have chosen this type of music... But they did do it, and I wanted to challenge myself into putting them together. I had fun with it, even if it didn't come out okay, but I never really expected it to.

  • By hard rock, you mean power metal.

  • Great vid...the music almost deepens blade runner's core theme!!!!

  • Vang rulz... but this chosen music is pure shit...underrated film would be if it was the original BSO...:P

  • I chose it because it was ABOUT the movie. It's not really SHIT, it's just not a song you're fond of, and that's understandable. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but just because it was connected to Blade Runner, I had to let it sink in as a pretty awesome song.

  • great job

  • did i say i like this...

    great

  • i think it is great, love it...

  • hair boy band metal really doesn't fit-- in 3 years you will be embarrased bt all the obvious cliche's. sorry.

  • Oh someone can't read, that's a shame.

  • He's merely stating a fact. You can agree with him or not, but it will not effect the quality of this video and in fact in doing so may actually diminish it!

  • He wasn't just stating a fact, he was directing it at me and the fact I'll be embarrassed. I already don't like the video now, why should I be embarrassed later? LOL.

  • It's power metal dumbass, power metal

You know, Blind Guardian, one of the best power metal bands?

Yeah, I know your comment was 8 months ago, but it just really annoys me.

  • man Blade Runner is the best movie ever, no doubt about it, and there's nothing weird about 20-year-olds watching children's cartoons, because I do it myself (turning 18) and damn man I don't doubt I will do it a long time henceforth.

  • was Deckert a replicant?

  • I think it depends on how the viewer sees it.

I know Harrison Ford, in the original cut, felt that Deckard was not.

  • I personally hold the conviction that the concept of Deckert was or was not a replicant was intentionally ambiguous.

  • I like to think that he wasn't, too.

  • In the book there are more hints that he might be, but I think Philip K Dick wanted to leave it ambiguous. Although in the book there isn't the unicorn hint.

  • Scott himself put paid to these rumours, by confirming that Deckard himself was a replicant. Put paid to all the "Is he /isn't he" speculation. Sadly, IMHO!

  • The general consensus is that Deckard was NOT a replicant in the regular/narrated version of the movie. But that he was a replicant in the directors cut.

There are specific scenes, specifically in the directors cut, that do go a certain distance at making this distinction.

  • I find it Comical that i receive a comment on being deep from a guy who's 19 and watches a childrens cartoon. LOL!!

  • Then not only are you not deep, but you aren't open, either.

  • I agree. Children. Small children can feel......everything.

  • lol wat's wrong with children's cartoons? i watch family guy

  • I'm (in the generalised social standings people live by in the western culture) 16, and i have built, over several years, a firm basis of knowledge, not emotive, exploration.

for one who knows, adventure isn't bold, it's not "death defying" it's just planely and simply an un-needed symptom of emotions.

    or in other words, silly.

now i'm 16, i love kids shows, and i'm probably going to be better equipt in dealing with emotion then most.

And i KNOW that, i tested it, several times.

  • Dick wasn't striving to achieve the Blade Runner we see in the films. They are two different things, the novel and the movie. The movie is loosely based on the novel, even Dick knew it was being made (but died before it was released). I assume the book was horrible to you, perhaps you got lost during it or just didn't understand it or something, or maybe it just wasn't your taste because you were too used to the movie, and that's what you were expecting to be on paper.

  • Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Has to be the worst book title ever

  • Then I guess you don't understand what it means. Maybe it's a little deep for you.

  • SergeStiles you are my hero.

But for jeetkunedobruce, 'what's in a name?'. The title is immaterial as long as the book is fantastic, and let me tell you, Electric Sheep is a masterpiece.

  • Haha, now you're MY hero!

It is definitely a masterpiece. That is definitely the word for it. Philip K. Dick, you genius, you.

  • great movie-- crap song

  • I had to get used to the song, but the song was inspired by the movie, so I thought I'd challenge myself and put them together. LOL.

  • fair enough, good try though,

I always think BR is a very sutble, gentle movie, even with the vilonent scene its pratically poetic, which is why I thought the first part of your song was great

  • You're absolutely right. Nothing, NOTHING could replace Vangelis. Ever. This video with this song doesn't even scratch teh surface of how amazing Blade Runner is, but it was fun to do, which is why I did it. :)

  • I might take some music from the Blade Runner computer game (which is actually what is used at the beginning of this video), and then make it from that, just a nice instrumental song. It's just a bit easier to work with songs with lyrics, because then it can kind of help towards choosing what clip to show at that time. If you know any songs that you think would fit with Blade Runner, be sure to let me know. I want to work with more clips from it.

  • you've got a good professiional atitude, ever thought of getting into editing?

  • I've thought about it, it would be damn fun. I would love it, I would love getting into anything in the movie industry. I just fear it's hard to get into a profession like that, especially landing a job editing something you want to edit, or filming something you want to film, and not some lame commercial on TV for baby's diapers, haha.

  • Yeah. This music really encompasses the whole Blade Runner vibe. Get a clue. This tune's more appropriate for a medieval action flick. Maybe the lyrics are inspired by Blade Runner, but I can tell ya', it don't have the ambience of Blade Runner. Again, if this was to a montage from Beowulf, or 300, or Gladiator, yeah it would sound appropriate. This would be like using techno for the soundtrack of a 40's flick. Get a grip.

  • Oh shi- Someone's got some serious business going on here.

    Internet is serious business.

This is one menial video by a nobody, I don't know why it matters that I was playing with my program and trying to challenge myself to take two completely different things and try to link them together with the little bit of the link they had.

  • I can't help being a jerk on youtube! Dunno why, but I just can't. Seriously, I don't think the tune is appropriate for Blade Runner, but I'm not trying to be an asshole! Really!

  • LOL, I guess it's just how being on YouTube is.

It's fine. I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, this song would never ever ever be appropriate in the actual movie. NOTHING beats the genius of Vangelis. If you want to see that, you see the original movie. I was just playin' around with a song that was inspired by it. It's fun to do, and it's even more of a challenge if the song isn't like already in the movie.

  • I have thought about taking music from the amazing computuer game of Blade Runner and puttings clips to that, I'm sure that would satisfy more people who can't understand this. This video doesn't even scratch the surface of how amazing Blade Runner is.

  • I just started playing that game today (again, ten years on) today. It has an awesome soundtrack; I'd even go as far as to say the game takes the film to the next level, with a Deckard-like character who has a gives a greater level of insight into his persons. Yeah, the game soundtrack with clips would be good.

  • Sweet! I think that is one of the best games inspired by a film out there, really giving justice to the original movie in music and style. I absolutely adore Ray, and I love being him, even if I couldn't have been Deckard (which would also be fun), but it makes much more sense this way. It also does justice because it follows more of the story in the original novel that wasn't used in the film. And I love the little mentions in the game about Deckard, and almost crossing paths.

  • Check out my 'Roy' music video sometime. It is the convergence of my favorite singer, movie and actor all roled into one. I was so pleased that Happy Rhodes made this song, this video just had to follow. Hope I did all justice in this presentation. It was more work than it appears. Just click on Robikus in the headder or search on "Blade Runner Roy Happy" Hope you like.

  • A light that burns twice as bright burns half as long

  • Blade Runner is AMAZING, and I have no issues with the song unlike some other people here.

  • That's good to hear! Haha. I don't know why people be hatin' so much on using a song that was actually inspired by the movie.

  • I just can't see the movie with anything other than classical music. I think anything else sort of sullies it.

  • Well this is true, but if you want to see that, you see the original movie.

I'm not aimin' to replace the movie, I was just experimenting with a song that was similar to the movie, and then clips from the movie. I wasn't trying to prove anything - It was fun to do.

  • No offense intended; it's just not my vision of what the movie is/ought to be. Good job on the visuals, though.

  • It's all good, I understand. It's definitely not what the movie is/should be. It's just too bad that's what this video seems to be coming across as. What the movie is is how the movie is supposed to be, no altering it whatsoever!

  • Well it would be akin to me masturbating over, let's say, 'The Golden' girls. I don't think that was the creator's intent, y'nawmean?

  • I'm not aimin' to replace the movie, I was just experimenting with a song that was similar to the movie, and then clips from the movie. I wasn't trying to prove or replace anything. - It was fun to do. I tried to challenge myself, but NOTHING can replace the movie as is, nothing.

  • this horrible yelling doesn't go with it at all :((

  • I had to get used to the song myself, but because it was inspired by Blade Runner, I couldn't help but enjoy it. And because it was inspired by Blade Runner, I thought, heck, why don't I try putting them together?

  • LOL. Was quite enjoying that song until the singer happened.

  • I did have to get used to the song, as I don't really know any other songs by the band, but because the song was inspired by Blade Runner directly, I had to give it props.

  • Hummm, I love Blade Runner and I love Blind Guardian, both a lot.

I wondered often what if... this. Unfortunatley, the result isn´t good at all!!!

  • nice video footage.thanks for posting.

  • Vangelis rules yea, but also this song.....

    The name of the band??

  • Blind Guardian

  • Did you say Tone Deaf Guardian?

  • Great montage, horrible song!!!!!

  • No podria ver Blade Runner sin la OST de Vangelis... Esta música no le hace bien, es como exhibir Leonardo, Vangogh o Frida Calo en una feria cirquense...

  • nice montage

pity bout the knuckle scraper soundtrack on it

  • the song is horrible...Vangelis rules

  • turn the volume off and remember the good feeling of blade runner

  • Or go watch the movie, duh, LOL.

This is just for people who respect the fact that Blind Guardian was inspired by the movie to write a song for those who like that genre of music, but nothing definitely can replace the original Vangelis, no shit, but then you just watch the movie and listen to teh soundtrack, why would you go on YouTube to watch the original clips and listen to the musc when you can just watch the movie itself by actually giving it what it deserves and buying it?

  • it was more an answer to the people who didn't like the song. i've watched the video with volume and now i understand ....personally i've watched the show several hundred times, maybe i feel a little overprotective. not tring to mess with anyones style

  • shit song

  • Can't please everyone, haha.

  • Blind Guardian Rocks

  • Guess you guys aren't into metal. Blind Guardian are one of the most highly-praised in the industry.

  • how to completly fuck a great movie with a shitty song.

Dude... erase this experiment of yours. Blade Runer is a classic and goes just excelent with Vangelis sound score. Please man... don't do this again...

  • Puritans.. gotta love 'em.

They stifle creativity, off-base thinking and therefore discovery and innovation.

It's good thing they're not too prevalent.

In other comments. I say: go with yer heart. do what you think is good.

  • you said it . I agree with you , there's no space for that kind of music in BladeRunner ... Try "A night in the museum" or smthn...

  • Jesus Christ! What a fucking shitty ass song.

  • I didn't write it.

  • Imbécil Animal Bruto... Enfermo mental, resentido social, milico

  • Hey hey, nice vid, a bit odd but good. Your video ends the same way as mine does! But apparently you added yours first so, bizarre coincidence!

Not sure I would have picked Blind Guardian. Check out my video. I went with Jorn Lande

  • I don't really listen to Blind Guardian, but because this song was inspired by the movie, I decided ti give it a shot and see what it looked like together.

  • im at work and have a comp with no sound so i never actualy heard the tune but i cant imagine any other tunes with this movie but at least ur intentions are good and at least we are talking about the best movie around leter baters

  • Of course no other tunes could go with the movie, but when it comes to fan pieces, I figure it's got enough freedom to try different things. And it is teh best movie, and I have to give props to the people who made the song, because they felt it was an awesome enoguh movie to make a song about. I thought I'd honour that with putting them together. :)

  • The song was used because it was inspired by the actual movie. I thought I'd honour the band for being a fan of such an excellent movie by putting them together. My friend told me about the song, I never heard any of their other songs.

  • My absolute favorite film. Could probably recite the dialogue by heart. Nicely edited but IMO the music is completely wrong. The movie needs dark atmospheric music like the score Vangelis created for it, not a poncey 80's metal wannabe band regardless of the fact that the track was inspired by the movie

  • Well, if you want to see the dark music like Vangelis, you watch the movie.

Someone wanted me to put these two together because the track was inspired by the movie (I've never heard anything else by them), and so I did, and that's the freedom you get when you're making a fan video.

  • yes its a really excellent film.....!

  • You cant have blade runner without vangelis

  • That's very true.

  • Dude those cuts are really good, but why did you use that music, in my opinion it totally contrasts with the style and feel to Bladerunner, you cant compete with Vangelis.

  • i gotta disagree with ya. the song was influence by Blade Runner....so yeah......it doesnt "contrast with the style and feel to Blade Runner"

    "Should I forget

    The way I feel

God he knows how long I tried

Feel there is no reason to cry

    I live my life

    In fortune dreams forever"

i def. think this part goes with the movie, specially the end

  • The song was used because it was inspired by Blade Runner, like Nabikon said.

  • It's funny, as kid about 10 years old I saw this film a couple times and i never liked it, then a few years later I suddenly thought of it and went looking to see it again and thought I was amazing, just a film talks true but at same time tiem it alwas kinda scared me

  • How fucking awesome Blade Runner + Blind Guardian = Win

  • bladerunner flopped when it was released, but no one released at the time how well it would stand the test of time. outstanding, up there with oddessy, the both in their own way predict the future. Awsome film one of my favs

er?,, whats with the music, please, vangelis, come on

  • The song was used because it was inspired by the actual movie. I thought I'd honour the band for being a fan of such an excellent movie by putting them together. My friend told me about the song, I never heard any of their other songs.

  • Bladerunner... truly a classic. Never duplicated never will. Dark yet so poetic. Thanks for posting.

  • one of my favorites movies ....what a movie dude !

  • Blade Runner is an awesome movie!

    You have good taste! Lol.

  • Thank you for sharing this.

  • Great video!

Blade Runner is one of the greatest movie ever...

    ...and Blind Guardian are great!

    Added to fav!

  • One of my favorite movies, one of my favorite bands, and one of their best songs! 'nuff said! great vid :)

  • Wow, well this definitely was a video made for you, then! :D Thank you very much! :)

  • Read the book.

  • "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick is my favourite book.

  • Hell, it's evident at the end of my video that I did, Lol.

  • I didnt mean you, just everyone else.

  • Oooh, gotcha! Sometimes I forget that it's not just directed towards the uploader.

And yes, EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT.

  • wow - shows how amazing the film still is!

  • Thanks! :)

And yes, the film is still amazing. I wish more people knew about it... Although there are quite a few fan videos, Boo-yah!

  • "I wish more people knew about it... " You realise its number 99 in IMDB's top films so it is quite well known. I'm very excited about the new DVD version being released later this year.

  • Well, no one around here seems to really know about it.

And only so many people actually go to IMDB and look that much into the site, Lol.

So yeah, I wish more people knew about it.

  • Boo-yah!
