Thank you, Daniel! This one could be called "Perils of Marrying My Secret You Tube Girl Then having Issues Between Us" lol This song was written out of the pain Bruce Robison was having, being separated from his lovely wife, singer Kelly Willis. Since then, they've made up and are quite happy.

Thanks, Mark. Not only do I absolutely adore this song (it may be my favorite country tune of all time) I recognize how monotonous it can sound if you're not careful. To break that monotony and pace the song, I used pauses and I spiked a hard ending, then brought the song down at the finish.

Here's the story about Tim and Faith's involvement in "Angry". Faith heard Bruce performing it on some show and was impressed and yes, she intended to use it herself. But somehow, Tim got around to trying the song and Faith was blown away by Tim singing it. Faith was all behind the idea of Tim doing it and they decided to keep the Bruce/Kelly feel by having Faith sing basically the same places where Kelly does. They used it a lot on the very first Soul2Soul tour.

You are a man after my own heart. Like Bruce's version, I can feel a pain and loneliness here that I don't get from the "power ballad" version by Tim and Faith. You feel and believe every word. I have lived this song through someone I loved, but had to walk away from for fear I would drown in her anger and bitterness. Sometimes you have to save yourself by letting go of someone. This version is raw and stripped down, the way good heartache songs should be.  BRAVO!!!

About the conviction: It is so satisfying to see a comment like that! Nothing could please me more. For 8 years, "Angry All the Time" helped me write all these songs: "Enemy"..."Is He Out There?".."Roses Aren't Enough"..."Better Than Me"..."It's Ok"...and others. I longed for so long to sing this beautiful song on YouTube...but I couldn't do it until after Holly sang "Enemy". Don't ask me why, I still can't figure it out.

But it had to be ME. I had to be the actor and make it that way.

Ok, take this song and listen to all 3 of us singers do it: First Bruce, then Tim McGraw, then me. It's the same song, but it has the subtext of 3 entirely different individuals and perspectives...consequently it is projected 3 distinctly different ways...and I maintain that it has to be that way.

I can't be Tim McGraw and be convincing on this. Tim is very masculine and tough. I come across as a gentle, sweet, and vulnerable person. My "husband" sounds more openly in pain about the failure.

Zmov, the reason I did so many versions of this song is because I have such a tremendous reverence for it. It wasn't enough to have a base hit off it. I had to hit one out of the bleachers because I owed this powerful song that. I wanted my singing and guitar playing to be beautiful on this because this song is so beautiful and special to me.

AATT was to songwriting what Jacqueline Mannering was to guitar playing to me.
