I don't think that's totally illogical. I mean think about it. If you're in a dark room and you have a lit candle, the light is stronger at the source than at the corner of the room isn't it.

The properties of the lightwave/particle are still the same no matter what distance is between the source and you. The only difference if the intensity. Its like a big pile of rice. Theres a lot of rice (intensity) but this is just lots of tiny grains (photons). The actual rice doesnt change no matter how big your plate is. There are different wavelengths of course, but its not like they "Run out of steam after a while".

If you argue the point that that doesn't happen in a vacuum, well, is space really a vacuum? It's full of dark matter, dust, ice, gases etc.

The light isnt changing, the AMOUNT of light is. The photons are still hitting your hand at 156,000 miles per second (ish).

Even if the entire universe were made out of diamond (from here to the edge) it would only affect the speed of light slightly.

Also, if the speed of light were not constant there would be no:

1: Nuclear power

2: Stars

3: Sun

In fact, that would make Hiroshima and Nagasaki whole again.
