The engine isn't strictly a Corvette engine. HSV use the same block but rebuild/retune the engine so that it's even better than whats in US cars.
The Ford Australia performance arm, Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) go even further, using just the Ford US Boss block and heads, and discarding the rest of the engine to build a uniquely Australian and supercharged V8 for the FPV Falcon GT.
A pity Ford US are idiots as they won't export FPVs to anywhere.
@proclub77 You used to have the Pontiac G8...you likely won't see any Australian Commodore or HSV Clubsport based sedans exported from Australia to the US until the US economy improves. Currently the US$ is worth less than the Aussie$ so it's too expensive in America.
Maybe when Obamas gone and the US economy improves Australia can sell muscle cars to the US again.
