On the other hand, this adds some great complexity to Elizabeth's character. She's right...of course she's right, but the cost kills her to her core. She cares about Jack, (they are briefly infatuated with each other) but she doesn't love him, and is willing to sacrifice him for the greater good of the others (and Will.) Its nice to see a female character with some more depth then mere love interest.

actually they didn't take will and elizabeth out, they only sign and intend to do three movies. they didn't want to do anymore than the trilogy, thats why they ended their characters story in At world's end.
