  • SONS

  • Thanks for posting this! SAMCRO fans love this song!

  • @40DanConnor Let's try this Dan. Find snippets on here of "The Wind that Skakes the Barley," Though I'd recommend a proper viewing of the film, I don't know if you're truly interested. Let's also thank Sekhmetouserapis for uploading this song for bringing thirsty ears into the fold. I was remiss in not already having done so. I thumbed all U other great posters up. If this doesn't work for you Dan, then as we Irish say, fág an bealach, meaning "clear the way!" ello to st. louis:)

    Peace~MoX

  • @MsMoxieLady shat! "The Wind that SHAKES the Barley"

    sorry~

    MoX~

  • @MsMoxieLady

It was my pleasure to share this music :)

And, everybody, this is not a tribune to insult each other but to discuss (politely) the music ;)

  • I recently discovered this song on the FX show Sons of Anarchy, it played on the episode that aired on 10/26/2010. Does anyone know where I can find this song?

  • @MUSICisMYlife1208 It's the first song on the Black 47 album "On Fire"

And I guess you can find it in any good music shop (or on amazon for that matter)

  • @Sekhmetouserapis The version on "On Fire" is another version than the one featured on SoA...

  • @FatzoMcUgly Quite possible since I only know SoA by name ;)

  • @FatzoMcUgly - I believe the version used in the episode is off their first(?) album Home of the Brave. I don't have that one, so I can't tell you for sure.

  • @FatzoMcUgly - I believe the version used in the episode is off their first(?) album Home of the Brave. I don't have that one, so I can't tell you for sure. Note that this album appears to be out-of-print, but used copies are out there (from $15 on Amazon). New copies look like they run $100+...yikes!

  • @FatzoMcUgly I know of the version on Home of the Brave album

  • @MUSICisMYlife1208

i saw the tv show too and thats why i search here for the song. great song btw

  • @MUSICisMYlife1208 The version from SOA is from the album "Home of the Brave", this one is from "On Fire".

  • @MUSICisMYlife1208 id k ive looked every were

  • @MUSICisMYlife1208 This version is easy to find. You can buy it on iTunes or on Amazon. It is on the album "Bittersweet sixteen". But the original version which is in the season 3 of SOA is impossible to find. Normally it is on the album "Home of the brave". And this album is not available on iTunes, Amazon, Vrigin mega. I've also sought on sites like abmp3 or beemp3 and on "torrent-sites" but no result. It's so depressing :( sorry for my bad english

  • @Vins120 I've found the original version, you just have to tap "ournia big fellah" on google and on the first site you can find the link for the mp3

  • @MUSICisMYlife1208 so did I! Man I had hard time finding this song!

  • What the fuck is this bullshit

"we couldnt betray the republic like Arthur Griffith and you"

Michael Collins never betrayed Ireland, this is retarded

  • @Vascular15 15? You're on the internet, how about using it?

    Step 1) locate your browser

Step 2) type in lyrics, Big Fellah, Black 47

    Step 3) read them

Step 4) compare your results to my "selected" lyrical lines

    Step 5) consider an apology

    Peace and Blessings~

"Give Ireland back to the Irish" J.Lennon

    MoX~

  • @Vascular15 - Perhaps I've sorted this out. This song was written about Collins from the viewpoint of an Irish Republican Soldier AGAINST the ANGLO-IRISH TREATY. Griffith was president of that delegation. Collins himself protested his appointment as envoy plenipotentiary. Collins knew that the TREATY, and in particular the ISSUE OF THE PARTITION, would NOT be well received in Ireland. Upon signing the treaty, he remarked "I have signed my own death warrant." Apologies and Blessings~ MoX

  • @MsMoxieLady You havnt sorted anything out.. This song says that one of the greatest Irish men ever, a man who dedicated his life to Ireland and is one of the main reasons why Ireland is free today, "betrayed the republic". Its a fucking disgrace, this band and you are clueless.

  • @Vascular15 Kindly step off my skirts 15. Again: 1) The song's from the perspective of the angry Irish rebels. They wanted NO part of the Britons ANGLO-IRISH TREATY. Yes, Collins was a rebel fighting against the black and tans but was DRAFTED into the treaty deliberations. Ultimately, Collins DID SIGN the dastardly treaty and forever regretted it. Citizens viewed that as betrayal. Ireland is NOT free, England occupies NI and the native tongue (Gaelic) was outlawed. It's liken to Israel/Palestine

  • @Vascular15 That's a matter of opinion. Even he thought it the treaty was bs.

  • @RFouts0 He signed it so he obviously didnt think it was bs, he thought it was the best Ireland could hope for, something which DeValera wouldnt have had a clue about.

  • This was on Sons Of Anarchy, fitted so nicely for the start of the episode :)

  • @whde2000 DIDN'T IT 2000? That's what brought me here! :) I enjoy that program and those cycles riding to this song stoked me. It was all goose bumps and the "YO, This is Black 47!" After watching that episode I came here to capture that feeling again. Hail the Irish, Black 47, jigs and reels, mighty pints, rights of the workin' man and "protecting the proletariats from the bosses and their screws so hold on to your rifles boys don't give up the dream " MoXie, a most improper Irish lass *wink*

  • @whde2000 YUS! 2010-10-26--Sons of Anarchy "Lochan Mor" episode. Love the program, love the Irish, and love Black 47~!!

    Blessings~

    MoX

  • Awesome song-the lyrics have tons of meaning!!

  • @grniz4ujax4 INDEED, jaX4...Laughin' with McDermott through the bullets and the sparks Always with the smart remark, your eyes blazin' and blue

But when we needed confidence we always turned to you

And when they shot our leaders up against Kilmainham wall

You were there beside us in that awful Easter dawn, Back on the streets of Dublin when we fought the black and tans

You were there beside us, a towerin' mighty man

We had to turn against you, Mick, there was nothin' we could do!

  • this is terrible

  • @40DanConnor If you name were say, O'Connor you'd understand the plight of the Irish. Larry Kerwin and his band, Black 47 engulfs and educates. Ever hear of a group named the Cars? Ric Ocasek heard them playing at CBGB's in NYC and signed them. Give 'em another listen Dan. Perhaps "James Connolly." Just anything from their CD "Fire of Freedom." "Livin' In America", try to find songs with the lyrics or look them up. Remember, the Crown still has it's flag in Northern Ireland.

    Blessings~
