So are you saying that TW will eventually be annexed into China? I think this means that China wants to integrate Taiwan with absolutely no conflict. China would have a lot to gain economically but TW would have to suffer paying taxes to Beijing (which it doesn't) and losing a lot of human rights. This would upset a lot of TW people. In the unlikely chance that the relationship would improve THAT much, China would have to allow TW a LOT more liberty like it does with HK.

It was a strategic pre-calculated risk to test the tolerance level of the distracted US, which has full war-time command of S. Korea's military. What our good Tarpley doesn't mention is that China is meddling in democratic Taiwan's affairs by pointing ballistic missiles at the island and holding its people hostage through coercion and threats of force. He goes on to talk about China's wonderful domestic spending but doesn't mention the PLA's double digit defense budget increases. Investigative journalist or unabashed PRC cheerleader?

Taiwan is a place occupied by ROC (republic of China) and have claims on mainland china as well do the PRC (people's republic of China) the majority of the populace in Taiwan IS Chinese. We support our allies and won't stop just because the PRK thinks that we shouldn't supply our friends (boohoo for them) . RT is about as smart, and truthful as FOX news. I'm an American and I love my country, however I hate the empire that it's created and the assholes who are now in power, destroying my country. It's like you have a brother, who you love but has become a danger to himself and others..So if someone stops him, teaches him a lesson and keeps him from misbehaving, you are relieved.
I'm relieved that China ( or Russia ) is rising and will tell my brother ( USA ) " hey stop behaving like an asshole, or we'll kick your ass".

@nicksum29 Taiwan aka ROC is part of China, not PRC (current one claiming china). There is basically 2 government China claiming to be the real one or the sole one. Taiwan is always part of china, though it depends on which one ROC or PRC

@myfunkychannel Taiwan and ROC are the same country. The Peoples Republic claims Taiwan, but they are two separate countries with a separate government, currency, judiciary, and political system. It is my opinion that the two countries will ultimately unite as the PRC slowly dissolves into a democracy, which is inevitable. The govt. of Taiwan has already started to politically and economically liaise with the PRC. The ROC, however, is not China, as it is an extremely small country.

@FoolishInTheEnd Taiwan was not uncolonized. It was a part of China. After WW2, China was in turmoil and the country was divided by two parties: the communist and democrats. Communists won and democrats fled to taiwan. This does not mean the island was lost to them. To the chinese, It is still considered a province of China.
It's about land. Like i'm pretty sure USA wont be giving up Alaska to it's native people, right?
