There´s as many fingerings as there are players. Just play each note as it should bo, don´t stress out about fingering, just play it right :D I have learnt this song with 4different ways. each sound alike.

Each note have a different frequency. So you could be playing the song wrong using the wrong notes.

@shadowknight132 There is no such thing as wrong fingering. A cover is a cover and you can finger it any way you like it, no pun intended.

There is such thing as wrong fingering. Fingering deals with positions. So you could be playing the song using the wrong pitch, maybe an octave higher than the correct pitch. I think correct fingering is good especially if you're sightreading music.

@shadowknight132 Fingering refers to what finger you use to play a certain note. If you were to play E F F# on the 2nd string and then play G# and A you would probably use the fingering 2 3 4 on 2nd string and 1 2 on the first string or you could use 1 2 3 1 2 or you could use 1 1 2 1 2. It is ideal that you don't move your hand as much when playing although you could use other fingerings to give a different sound.

@juanbestu You would not be able to get the wrong pitch no matter what fingering you use. If you are reading tabs it tells you what fret to play o which string. If you are reading sheet music it tells you the note and the pitch on the note, you can play the note on the wrong string but you would still get the same note at the same pitch unless you are not tuned correctly. If you are transcribing...well you will have to be deaf not to notice you are playing one octave higher.

To be honest, as long as it sounds the same, and its comfortable for you, it doesnt really matter what fingering you use to learn any song. Steve Vai even recommends you play your own thing over the backing tracks of his songs.
