As for why those scientists aren't atheists, I cannot say for certain. Every scientist is, of course, different. However, the power of indoctrination should never be taken lightly. @nBoots97 I disagree. As an atheist you must toss away any concept of belief and replace it with probabilities. For example, you can not rely on feelings either, if you say you feel the death penalty is wrong, you'll most likely rely on intuition to base your decision which has no empirical evidence to back it up. A rose by any other name is still a rose. Belief is acceptance without empirical evidence and that is not allowed in Atheism. You must adhere to your methodology.
