I was born after the show went big... there shouldn't even be any comparisons to the shows I grew up watching (spongebob) to Jim Henson's shows. Mr. Henson has made a fan of me out of Fraggle Rock airing on The Hub. Thank you for giving me a look at your work. It looks fantastic and beautiful.
If this show could get my 11 year old sister and eight year old brother hooked, and make me at least curious enough to occationally watch an episode with them, we need to find a way to bring Jim Henson back into the world.
Fraggles (as it was called in Germany) was great. Now seeing the clips again I see _no_ reason why it schouldn't be brought back... ok music is a bit dated ;)
Today the local radio station had a special "Pay For Play" to benefit Ronald McDonald House. The listener requests a song and donation to Ronald McDonald House, and here's the catch: you can get almost ANYTHING to be played there, whether it's popular songs, oldies, or even Christmas and children's music. Anyway, my mom requested the Fraggle Rock theme song be played, because she knew I was the only person who would request such a thing. (continued in next post)
@Fragglevision Continued, my brother told me as he was driving me home from school, that he heard the hosts talking about the comments they had gotten, and that one woman, who watched the show when she was younger, wrote that when she had heard the Fraggle theme, her four year old son asked her, "What's the Fraggle Rock?"
On an unrelated note, my brother also told me that one listener donated $2000 to hear "The Monster Mash"!
All nostalgia and fanboy-ism aside, I seriously believe that Fraggle Rock and the Muppets made the world a better place. Music and laughter, music and laughter.
My niece Danielle LOVED Fraggle Rock when she was small. She called it Fwaggle Wock. She always knew when it came on too, she'd run to the TV and not move for the entire show. We got her videos of the series. She loved Boober the best.
I love fraggle rock and have fond memories, was on here to show my 5 yearold she loved the opening song, we are going to order these dvd's for her. i loved all the imaginary adventures as a child and think she will love them too. I wish we had more good ,clean shows like this today life was so simple then, those were good times where everyone got along.so much hate in this world today.I wish people loved & respected each other like back then.
@Brandondorf9999alt: I think you're confusing Henson's work and another franchise. The Fraggles are exclusive to the Henson brand, complete with a forthcoming movie in 2011/2012.
@Brandondorf9999alt: When and how did that Sonic series come into play when discussing Fraggle Rock? Fraggle Rock is a Henson brand, like Sesame Street and The Muppets (prior to the 2001 and 2004 buyouts by Sesame Workshop and Disney, respectively).
@Brandondorf9999alt: The Fraggles subsisted on radishes, which do exist. Doozer sticks were ground-up radishes made into stick-like structures and the remaining radishes left over were made into Fraggle delicacies like Radish Frappae and Radish Stew.
Im sure whoever came up with the idea must have been doing something they probably shouldnt have been :D Craziest dancing muppets you will ever see playing crazy\cool tracks like this in the 80's
@mkheadz: NO. Jim Henson--the master behind ALL Muppet concepts--was rather sane. The purpose of this show was to promote systematic solidarity and peace between the different societal groupings in the show, as a way of showing the world how the different people on this earth ought to work together, regardless of our differences that we "silly creatures" take way too seriously at times.
I used to love watching Fraggle Rock! I loved 'listen to convincing John!' I still refer to guys working away on road construction as doozers! What a fun happy show! I heard they were planning a movie with the same muppeteers, but they have a falling out and split. Or something like that! I think the last time they performed was at Jim Henson's memorial on tv after he died. He was a hippy beatnik type and didn't see a doctor when he was sick. Penicillin would have saved his life... He d
@wendym1234: No. The MOVIE is still on its way. The chief obstacle is financial backing, because people now are looking for instant gratification, not the timeless notions promoted by the likes of a Walt Disney or Jim Henson (in this case, it is humantarian Henson, since it was his vision that brought Fraggle Rock and the other Muppet brands [Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and Muppet Babies] to life.
In 1982, following the success of Sesame Street, an organization of Ministers approached Muppets' creator Jim Henson about the idea of doing a Christian-Themed children's tv show, going so far as to make rudimentary puppets of Christ and St Peter. Henson said he'd consider it, but the idea was ultimately rejected. In 1983 the Henson-produced Fraggle Rock, a show that focused on a group of Demons living in the 1st circle of Hell, debuted. Later that year Henson was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

what the hell r u talking about the first circle of hell is where the frigen fraggels r from ur retarted they r a bunch of hippies that taught me my morals ur a tool!
I understand you are just a griefer and that this reply is pretty pointless as it just feeds your fun but...
You are basically saying that Jim Henson chose to do an awesome show that instills a decent, moral (and some would argue christian) code of ethics in children, but he just it without a cross or the 'blessing' of the church and so was killed by God?
And you didn't even get the cause of death correct.
:: sigh:: You are truly a moron. Please go grief some AMV, leave Henson alone.
Hey crazy literal-believer-in-mythology...one of your 'brothers' accounts was deleted thankfully...I can't wait for yours to be next. You are the enemy of all things good and whole, and you will suffer under the 'devil' & 'demons' you've created for yourself.
You know what, no one makes music like that for children's TV anymore, or any TV show for that matter. I talked to professional musicians and they all agreed that the music used on the Muppet Show was fantastic. Fraggle Rock sometimes had even better songs than the Muppets. Also, the Muppet Show used tons of cover versions, Fraggles had originals.
@Quidam i agree as a child i loved this show and when my 1st son was born we always watched this together and had proper bonding time, john-pau[my son]l and the fraggles i love you and always will xx
