@opticlook You'll want to do that, yes. Flowers take alot of energy to form, so when your looking to clone or harvest a signifigant amount from the plant you want to clip the buds and flowers (it keeps the plant focusing enenergy on growing leaves and rooting).

You shouldn't dunk your plant in the rooting compound, because it might contaminate the whole bottle. use a spoon to take some out if you have to.

so far, i have about a 90 percent success rate with cloning gel and a misting set up just like your 5 gallon bucket but with more plant sites

it seems the only time a plant doesnt root with the aeroponics and cloning gel is when i take a bad branch or do it half assed

awesome vid but i got a couple tips if you dont mind. use the liquid gel instead of the powder rooting hormone. i use cloneX. also dont dip in the bottle. pour out a small amount on a surface. dip your cuttings in that. discard the remainder. this way you wont contaminate your bottle. sterilize scissors with rubbing alcohol. you can also cut bottom leaves in half so the plant puts more energy into rooting. also turn cell phones off during demonstrations LOL.

I would use a paint brush or a smaller container of rootone. Those big bottles are expensive and you don't want to spread any diseases in your plants..

@vbk929 The reason you shouldn't clone a flowing plant is the plant is in the flowering stage. When a plant is in the flowing stage the plant uses most of it energy to grow flowers instead of growing. Its best to clone when the plant is in the vegetative (growing) stage.

I chopped the flowers and rotted parts off the geranium cuttings, now I am trying to clone them AGAIN in peat / soil mix. Do you even think it is possible to try again? They have lived for about 3 weeks now after cutting them (in rockwool) so I still think there is a chance. There are new growth buds on all of them that are real dark green. Also, when I peeled the rockwool stuff off them, ONE geranium had tiny white torpedo / zit root stubs just coming out so to me, there is HOPE. Yay!.

Then take the blade and genlty peel the sides of the walls and take your rooting gel and apply it and you are well to throw that in a sound medium... I use Foxfarm. the gel can make roots grow quite strong n long. also aeroponics is a great.

in bio there is something called c3 and c4 plants....one of them the stoma close during the day and they only absorb co2 @ night. so for these dark is a must

but for others? do they even need dark? the light n dark reactions of photosynth go on @ the same time...

first of all you dont want it to be to bright or to hot it will cause the cutting to dry up to quick but 8 to 12 hours to start with once rooted bring up to 14 maybe 16

Actually you're wrong on both of those. Spectrum plays a huge role but not color. You DO want 24 HRS of light for clones so they can have that extra time to work on roots. After they start root buds let them switch to 20/4 so they have the down time to work on developing those roots. I've grown for over 20 years and know a thing or 2 about clones so please just believe what I say and you will have great healthy clones in a week or less.. I get roots on the 4th day and plant on 7th

hey man, if ur growing indoors and all the light supplied is artificial what is the best daylight hours to give a clone while waiting for it to root and what would be the best light to use, i have a 600w hps a 400w hps and multiple 6400k cfl's ranging from 100w to 250w, i havn't tried cloning yet as im not completely sure of all the little details and i have always grown from seed, experimenting with different strains, but a little advice would be a great help if i found something worth cloning.

males produce weed/bud... its just not as potent or strong because the plant concentrates makeing the seeds during flowering rather than concentrating only on the bud.. its still smokeable though...

Actually males only produce pollen sacs- ie: not smokeable. The male pollinates the female "buds" or flowers and then the seeds grow inside of the calyx. Males can be used to make hash/cooking because some can have higher THC content- but maels DO NOT PRODUCE WEED/BUD.
