  • Glenn at his best!

  • I am soooooooooooooooo glad I grew up listening to some of the best musicians that ever lived. Glen Campbell is one of them. No one today comes close.

  • This video has been reversed,he picks right handed.

  • Comment removed

  • @01Almay Now Glen's just showing off. :-D Not only can he play fantastically well right handed, he must also be able to play as a lefty too.

  • @looking4ferdy lol that's funny

  • Love the tempo.

  • That is a left handed guitar an he is playing lefthanded!

  • He's not playing left handed, this video was recorded from the tv screen and everythings backwards. Thats why it says TMC with a backwards C instead of CMT. Still a great video of a Great song....

  • Did anyone notice that Glen is playing left handed?

Check other videos and see he plays right handed.

  • @cpluni Look at the text onscreen. The video's been flipped.

  • The KingOfMean has nothin but love for Mr.Cambell.

  • ahh, my man Glen. Listened to him as an INFANT. Loved his variety show, my mom says

The coked-out 70's was when his voice took a rougher edge, and it is my favorite period of his work.

  • YES YOU ARE RIGHT! WELL SPOTTED! GLEN IS RIGHT HANDED NOT LEFT AS THIS VIDEO SHOWS.ALSO IT SHOULD READ CMT AND NOT TMC!!

  • Hey there, TheRetroCafe. Thanks for posting this video. I've always loved Glen's songs. I taught myself to play "By The Time I Get To Phoenix " on tenor sax back in the 80's and the other night I was picking it on my guitar.. Last week, the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix had an article on Glen and his Good-bye Tour and his Alzheimer's. So sad but none of us are immune to it, it seems. Thanks again.

  • This vid is backwards!

  • Good catch. You can tell the CMT is backwards - somehow the video is reversed. Trivia question - great lefthanded bass player? Paul McCartney! Glenn Campbell, and Roy Clark, both started as as studio guitarists. Both monsters.

  • The video is backwards. Campbell plays right hand.

  • @dwduartejr recisely, great spot..

  • he just said he has alzheimers', he's doing a final tour, he's 75, wow that makes me old too, i remember him on the smother's brothers before he got his own show

  • Great Music !!!!

Love you - greetings from Europe

  • Oh, never mind. I see that the video is reversed, for some reason.

  • Since when is he left-handed?

  • Has anyone noticed he is playing as a "lefty". Look at other videos and he's playing as a right handed player. Anyone know why he chose to change his way of playing?

  • Why is this reversed?

  • Was that the Year of the Beard for both Buck Owens and Glen Campbell?

  • @Prilavolus At first I thought it was Tim Allen, I swear I did. And then realized it was Buck Owens..LOL Wonder what year this was? Late 70s maybe?

  • @greenjello74 I think it was 1977. That's when he appeared on "The Carol Burnett Show" with a beard. He and Carol did a spoof of the previous year's remake of "A Star Is Born."

  • @Prilavolus ty

  • i love lisa ono's version better

  • I have always loved and enjoyed the talents and music of Glen Campbell. I enjoyed this video very much! Keep up the good work and thank you !!!

  • I notice glen is playing his guitar left handed. is this a video trick or was he ambi-dextrous.

  • @fogologo100 lol,no the video was flipped,CMT is backwards on the video.

  • They got the damn video tape in upside down. He was a right handed player.

  • I've been a fan since I was young boy and owe my appreciation to his music to my parents. We listened during long drives on vacations from Texas to Colorado or South Padre Texas or just at home. Sad about the recent diagnosis however he has provided so much entertainment and good times. I wish I could meet him. Great memories now and then.

  • I just heard today Glenn has Alzheimer's - so terribly sad. He was a true musician and a fine vocalist.

  • Such a great song. But I must say, there's a live version of John Hartford performing it that just cannot be beat.

  • GC can tear up any stage, this is such an amazing rendition. Brilliant

  • that's not Glenn Campbell, that's Kris Kringle

  • A very underappreciated guitarist ! Glen Campbell absolutely SMOKES on the ax!.Another fine guitarist is Roy Clark!!! I love music from this era,it took creativity, and a load of TALENT!!!!! Something missing in the "music" today!

  • @ronantcliff63 you are right both of them. and jerry reed, too!

  • @ronantcliff63 AMEN ! Fab guitarist !

  • Glen's pretty sexy with a beard.

  • the video is flipped to keep the copy -write cops from zeroing in on this.

  • Beautiful lyrics by John Hart.

  • the reason he plays the guitar so hi is that he has very short arms.

  • He plays that guitar awfully high....

  • einfach geil

  • Why is he playing the guitar left handes here????

  • @Cootersdog - because he can..... ;-)

  • @yourdickis2limp hey....who the hell wasn't back then? It was a crazy time.

  • Glenn cant play left or right, mostly right.

  • Gran cancion siempre me gusto parece que Glen tocara la guitarra con la mano izquierda pero lo que pasa es que la camara esta volteada que detalle

  • the song was written left handed so it has to be performed left handed.

  • @RJiminez51 Lots of comments about Glen's left hand, but the whole BAND is left-handed, this is the Southpaw Dream Band ! ! ! ! ( now don't spoil this for me by pointing out the flipped CMT letters)

  • this is the only time he's ever played left-handed--and he does it perfectly!

  • never knew he was a southpaw. lol.

  • @52hogan your daddy might get jealous, you fag

  • awesome guitar for shmaltzy country western

  • awesome guitar for shmaltzy country western

  • One of the best songs ever written. The structure is just brilliant. Glenn is always tremendous with his signature song written by the late John Hartford.

  • Of course Glen can play guitar. He was originally a member of The wrecking crew, (which included Leon Russel) a famous group of sessions players in L.A. who backed many of the top bands of the era. Glen was well known as a 12 string player, and he even toured with the Beach Boys.

  • Wow! I know GC and his songs, in fact Wichita Lineman is my favourite all time song, but I never knew he could play the guitar, and man can he play!!!!!!

  • @xristy007 I saw Glen live at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge Tn, and not only can he play a guitar, I saw him play it over his head , and behind his back , and never miss a cord ! He is my all time favorite performer.

  • Glen didn't write this by the way, John Hartford wrote it, and recorded it, Glenn just made it his own and put it on the map.

  • I love you so much ... you are my life...

  • I'm left handed. Interesting to see what Glen would look like left handed guitar player..Though we know he's not...

  • awesome, but can't glen campbell afford a decent guitar?

  • This is a good live presentation

  • This is the only left-handed band you will ever see!!!!!!

    rip roaring tune!!

  • Interesting to see Gle as a left hander albeit a special effect.! His performance here is shit hot though and untouchable by any standard. If it were a gun he was a shootin' well lorddy we would all be passed away. Thankfully though its A GUITAR!! long live the legend THAT IS GLEN CAMPBELL!.........

  • When I was a child, all I ever wanted to do was sing this song with Glen Campbell. Loved it.
