"Taaaaaakkkke the envelope!" Another classic scene. The only bad thing is that the ending cuts off before Felix complains about giving his winnings to the orphanage, then realizes he's on TV & has to clumsily backtrack. "No! NO! Oh...what am I saying, I was an orphan myself!" LOL
with all due respect i repeated what Simon writes in his autobiography rewrites .. check it out He invested the first $75,000 from Come Blow Your Horn in "cattle that froze to death in Montana." A far bigger error: selling the TV rights to The Odd Couple to Paramount when it made the movie, on the presumption that it would never become a series—a bad guess that Simon says may have cost him as much as $20
Not true at all. In fact Neil Simon is credited in every episode and received monetary compensation as the originator. He wrote none of the shows, but did appear as himself in the episode where Felix writes theatre reviews for Oscar. The real sad thing is that in the old TV deals, Jack and Tony got nothing after the show was repeated in syndication numerous times. Just the way TV rerun deals were done back then.
does anyone know if this whole thing started the sitcom joke of "two men in a horse costume??"

@chumshot1 No, that trope has been around for ages. Even Lucy and Ethel did it on "I Love Lucy".

One of the best segments ever from a sitcom.
Oscar's faces during:
"Why am I smiling?"
"Oh, you blew it, you BLEW it."
and the stamping of the feet with each hundred dollar bill added to his hand are comedy gold!

Like in an another Odd Couple episode featuring Password, this is not the same studio used like in the original ABC studio.

OSCAR: "No!"
FELIX: "Yes! Yes!"
MONTY: "The 'yeses' have it, 2-1..."
Classic show! When I was growing up, I'd catch it anytime it aired in reruns on Nick@Nite or on a local station...I wish it were airing somewhere.
